Exploring Kaona's Modular Innovations at Superbooth 2025 | Algorithmic Sequencing & Granular Magic

video upload by Jonathan Knightsnare

New maker. This is the first post to feature Koana Modular.

"While at Superbooth 2025 in Berlin, I had the pleasure of diving into the world of Kaona, a boutique modular synth company hailing from the south of France near Aix-en-Provence. Kaona is renowned for crafting ingenious Eurorack modules that blend algorithmic sequencing with creative sound design tools.

Here are some standout modules I explored:

Skippy: A 4-channel polyrhythmic trigger sequencer offering matrix and non-matrix patterns, perfect for generating complex rhythmic structures.

Skippy Live: An expander for Skippy, adding real-time performance controls like reset, play/stop, and live mode toggling, enhancing your live sequencing capabilities.

Zazou: An algorithmic pattern generator that produces MIDI and CV sequences based on various algorithms, including fractals and mathematical patterns, allowing for intricate melodic explorations.

Sisyphus: A stereo granular filter module that uniquely combines granular synthesis with custom filtering modes, enabling the creation of textures ranging from smooth to glitchy.

Mรปmack: An analog VCO featuring three unique mixable shapers, allowing for the generation of sounds from classic to complex and organic.

Kaona's modules are a testament to innovative design, offering musicians and sound designers tools that inspire creativity and exploration. Their commitment to pushing the boundaries of modular synthesis is evident in each of their thoughtfully crafted modules.

Inside Shakmat Modular at Superbooth 2025 | Belgian Eurorack Brilliance Unleashed

video upload by Jonathan Knightsnare

"In this episode from Superbooth 2025, I explore the world of Shakmat Modular—one of the most inventive and musically forward-thinking modular synth makers in the Eurorack scene.

Hailing from Brussels, Belgium, Shakmat isn’t just another modular brand. They're a collective of engineers, designers, and musicians with one mission: to build Eurorack tools that are both technically innovative and artistically expressive. Their modules are crafted to inspire creativity—whether you’re making complex generative patches or crafting tight grooves for live performance.

In this video, I dive hands-on with some of their latest and most exciting modules—from smart sequencers to playful clock tools and creative modulation sources. What I love most is how everything they make feels immediately usable yet deeply explorable. No menu-diving, just powerful musical interaction.

Whether you’re into micro-timing madness, live patching, or experimental sequencing, Shakmat gives you the kind of gear that asks you to play—not just program.

Big shoutout to the Shakmat team for taking time to chat and share their passion. If you’re into next-gen modular tools with a deep musical heart, keep these folks on your radar."

Old-School Power, New-School Build | Antonus 2600 at Superbooth 2025

video upload by Jonathan Knightsnare

"While exploring Superbooth 2025 in Berlin, one synth totally stole the show for me: the Antonus 2600—a full-size, hand-built tribute to the legendary ARP 2600.

Crafted in Barcelona, this beast stays true to the analog legacy of the original, with stunning build quality, premium sliders, and a sound that’s fat, raw, and alive. The Antonus 2600 isn’t just a clone—it’s a fully playable analog synth built with modern precision and deep respect for history.

This model features the same dimensions as the original 1970s ARP 2600, with handcrafted wooden sides and a powerful integrated speaker system, making it a centerpiece synth for any serious setup. It also includes MIDI and CV options, so it plays nicely in both vintage and modern workflows.

If you're a fan of East Coast subtractive synthesis or want a true tactile analog experience—this is it.

Discovering the Continuo Arpeggiator by muSonics | Cool Finds at Superbooth 2025

video upload by Jonathan Knightsnare

"I’m at Superbooth 2025 in Berlin, soaking in the best of what the synth and electronic music world has to offer—and I came across something seriously cool: the muSonics Continuo.

This isn’t a synth—it’s a standalone hardware arpeggiator and sequencer, and it's slick. Currently in public beta, the Continuo is available in 4MU American-format modules, and it brings a uniquely hands-on approach to sequencing and arpeggiation. It's built for real-time performance and experimentation, with firmware you can easily flash via USB—no special software required.

If you’re deep into modular or you want to sequence your gear with expressive control, this one’s worth watching.

๐ŸŒ€ About Superbooth:
Superbooth is the mecca of electronic music instruments—held yearly in Berlin, it’s where boutique gear meets global innovation. Whether you're into Eurorack, standalone boxes, or weird experimental tech, it's the place to be.
