SID SYNTH - Turn Your Commodore 64 Into a Live Synthesizer #C64 ⎍∧∿⩘
video upload by LukHash
"Here is a little demo of SID SYNTH, a software live synthesizer for the Commodore 64 and Commodore 64 Ultimate. V1.0 lands on 6 Nov 2026 as a bonus download with my new album 'Neon Airlines', and it is up for pre-order right now:
Pre-order today and the download link drops straight into your inbox the moment it goes live on release day, so there is no waiting and nothing to chase later. You get the full album with it, and pre-orders genuinely help a release like this land.
⎍∧∿⩘⎍∧∿⩘⎍∧∿⩘⎍∧∿⩘⎍∧∿⩘⎍∧∿⩘⎍∧∿⩘⎍∧∿⩘⎍∧∿⩘
SID SYNTH is a real-time C64 software synthesizer built for playing live. It sits between two amazing programs, the instant playability of Cynthcart and the deep sound design of SID Wizard. That's the middle ground I've been missing. The ultimate tool for live performance on your favourite computer :)
For those who are interested what's under the hood:
Eight waveforms (4 main+combined ones) across three voices (six with a second SID), an adjustable ADSR with hard-restart retrigger, a multimode filter, and fully customisable PWM with its own rate, depth and sweep shapes. Add vibrato, portamento and tremolo, plus switchable ring mod and hard sync. Seven voice modes take you from full polyphony through fifths and octave stacks to arpeggios you can lock to tempo. Then you play it: live pitch bend, vibrato swells and filter swipes you can freeze and latch mid-note, for real expression and sound design beyond presets.
Build your own banks of instruments across 54 slots, save and load them to disk, and jump between sounds on the fly, so a whole set is under your fingers on stage, with a "Live Lock" to keep a stray key from changing anything mid-song.
Full MIDI in adds assignable CC to use with your DAW or any MIDI hardware, program change to switch patches hands-free, and clock sync to keep the arpeggiator in time with your drum machine or sequencer, plus a tap-tempo that sets the arpeggiator's speed straight from the rhythm you tap, so you can lock the arp to your track by ear in seconds.
Twelve reactive visualizers turn a held note into a show, and dual-SID stereo, blackout-clean recording for the real SID chip and automatic PAL/NTSC tuning finish the picture. 👾"

THE GREAT GIANA SISTERS - Live on Pocket Operator PO-28 'Robot' - [LukHash]
Published on Mar 25, 2016 lukhashdotcom
"Remix of another 80's classic. The Great Giana Sisters (Time Warp Productions), composed by Chris Hülsbeck in 1987. Played on a Pocket Operator PO-28 'Robot'. This one always had a special place in my heart, since I was a kid.. It was in fact the 3rd computer game I have ever played (Moon Patrol (on Arcade Machine) being the 1st one & Frogger 2 (on C64) being 2nd). Still remember how gobsmacked I was when it first loaded on my shiny brand new and belowed C64. I hope you will enjoy this little remix as much as I enjoyed playing Giana!"

Making Music with the MSSIAH Sequencer
Uploaded by 8bitventures on Aug 11, 2009
"This video demos how to use the MSSIAH Sequencer to create music with the Commodore 64.
It's as simple as with any other modern MAC or PC Sequencer. In this video the Sequencer is controlled with a
1351 mouse but it may also be operated with an Amiga or Atari mouse, ordinary C64 joystick, the keyboard itself or a PC mouse using a 1351 mouse adapter (such as the Micromys).
The MSSIAH Sequencer application can be switched to full MIDI mode in which it functions as a MIDI module being multi-timbral, polyphonic or a mix of both modes.
The MSSIAH Cartridge is a hardware cartridge with a built in MIDI interface and plugs into the back of your Commodore 64. It contains a variety of music applications that make your old Commodore computer play along the other gear in your studio.
MSSIAH Cartridge sells for EUR 49,95 and is available for purchase at our online store.
More info at: http://www.mssiah.com
In this video the MSSIAH Sequencer uses five channels of audio on the Commodore 64 still the SID (audio circuit in the C64) only had three oscillators available.
This is made possible by adding another SID to the computer giving a total of six tracks in MSSIAH Sequencer.
The cleanest way to put in the additional SID circuit is by using the SID2SID, a DIY circuit board also available for purchase at our online store."

"The catridge turns your C64 into a realtime controllable synth. With real time filter control, that can be added to the commodore's ports with two podmeters. A real easy beginners mod :) The chip on the cartridge is installed on a socket, so that it can be replaced with future updates to the firmware on the chip. This is also the reason why its not in a catridge housing, although thats fairly easy to arrange."
