Thomas Henry Music

Via Scott Stites:

"This morning, out of the clear blue, I received a CD from Thomas Henry. I gave it a listen, and just couldn't believe my ears - it had some of the coolest ancient analog stuff I've heard in a long while - it was a collection of recordings he made in the early to mid eighties. Some of the earlier tracks feature the Moog modular at U of I, and later ones are made up of his DIY stuff. There's one track where he used the Moog as a drum machine - absolutely amazing!

I asked him why he hadn't released it, and he said he didn't think the recording quality was up to snuff (they're pretty old master tapes). He said I could do anything I wanted with it, post it, share it or whatever. I think he should release it as it is, on a CD, warts and all. I posted a track from it on Electro-Music. If you get a chance, give it a listen here."

Sanctuaries Tour Information

Title link takes you to Sanctuaries a blog that will cover tour information for a number of shows featuring Gary Chang and Neil Leonard. You might remember Gary Chang from this post on his Wiard modular and this previous post on Sactuaries. The shows will feature the Wiard modular and will take place in religious sanctuaries - churches from times past. When you get to the site, be sure to scroll down and click on "Older Posts" to get to see all of the posts. If I were in the area of any of these events, I would not want to miss it.

You can find audio excerpts on the site as well.

"Excerpt from a streaming live May 28st. This live actually lasted an hour (this video is excerpt from 25:00 to 35:00). I was endlessly repeating edit-sample-overdub loops. This rig (ER-1 + KP3) is what someone called "poorman's Machinedrum UW". Actually, it looks a bit cheap, but very joyable gears..."

Interesting Detail:
"There is one cosmetic irregularity, and it is not from wear. The silk screened 'Memorymoog' on the backside is faded a little bit at the top, in the middle. Please refer to the photos. It is a factory irregularity. You can see from the pictures that the synth has been absolutely babied, and is in practically new condition."
