the teaspoonCAS [ creamandsugar ] can be called a window sampler, a granular sampling gate, a granular trigger or something along those lines. its main intention is as a handheld voltage controlled instant looping playback sampler. there have been a number of features added in an attempt to make it universally applicable. knobs cover gain, volume, storage size, granular window and feedback. toggles allow real time speed / pitch modulation, self triggering window, and window hold. then there is a larger set of controls inside the case featuring touch pads, circuit bends, range extensions, input conversions and feedback loops. the input / pre will accept anything from direct guitar input to lower synth level. the window input will take just about any active voltage you can feed it and together with the length and threshold knobs it allows control over the window with enough detail to respond to higher audio frequencies which can allow for options like voltage controlled wave shaping if the source is clean and loud enough. the SLF switch sends the main audio to the window input and uses it as the control source allowing you to walk away from rhythmically synced sample playback. this input can also be used with a common sustain pedal to allow remote use. the CV input gives remote control over the currently available size of the sampler which can reach roughly one second though at the expense of fidelity. like the window input it will accept both AC and DC sources [ 6vdc ~ +/-3v ] which means that those of you that do not yet understand CV don't really need to, you can use anything from standard modular control sources to DAW based audio editors to draw out shapes and just plug the audio out into the CV input and it will work, easy as can be, volume in your editor then become size. CV input sensitivity together with the huge size range allows for an effect not unlike ring modulation when in pitch mode, the modulation source needs to be rather loud though. you can also insert a passive expression pedal with no other changes needed allowing the CAS to operate hands free, but you can now just shake the CAS to trigger the window so it might spend more time in your hand" more info and samples

The Harvestman Polivoks VCO

"Early sketch of the upcoming Polivoks VCO, by The Harvestman. Vintage sound in a small size (12 HP) and with all the necessary functions. The price should also be pretty reasonable. We're looking for a late summer release for this module."

ACIDLAB BASSLINE

via this auction
"Here's an original all analog little beastie crafted by Klaus in Germany. MIDI & DIN syncable, slick sequencer with slide and accent. CV, gate, and accent outputs to sequence other gear too. Sounds juicy and very very close to a 303 yet has it's own unique character. Solid construction - all tweakable knobs are tight, the detented pattern and pitch selector knobs have a looser feel, which is normal. Overall, minty condition. 120VAC power adapter included.

Based on the sound and feel of the Roland TB-303; the AcidLab Bassline 2 offers smooth and sweet, high quality low end for the modern day electronic musician/producer.

The AcidLab Bassline 2 is a monophonic bass synth with a MIDI-clock-synchronized sequencer featuring an intuitive sequencer control interface that makes on-the-fly creativity a piece of cake. They have also incorporated nearly every mod you could ask for (2 VCOs, ring modulation, oscillator-sync, sub-octave-oscillator, noise, VCLFO, LFO-reset, filter FM). Take the step into the world of analog synthesis with the AcidLab Bassline 2; once you do you'll never look back.

Features
* OSCILLATOR WAVEFORM: Sawtooth, Square wave
* TUNE CONTROL: +/- 8 half-tones.
* TUNING SWITCH: increased or degraded by a octave
* CUTOFF: Filter frequency

New Nord Wave Program Library

"THE BEST OF THE BEST We hand picked some of the planet's best synthesizer sound programmers to create their individual - and ultimate - Nord Wave sound banks. And we sure got some awesome sounds to share with you. The mission was to bring out the big, bad synthesizer in the Nord Wave, and to exploit its unique sonic character to the limit. The banks reflect the musical heritage and sound preferences of each and every programmer with plenty of personality. Look e.g. for vintage and skyscraper huge sounds in the US bank, modern characters that cuts through the everyday mush in the progressive Canadian and Italian banks, and a unique mix of Belgian-French haute couture from our friend Xavier Tribolet in the French bank. The German bank is as efficient as the country's rail- and highway system and the Dutch entry will make you think of tulips, the bestest of beer and excellent craftsmanship. The Future Music UK bank was conceived as a special project with the magazine. No less than three entire programming teams were set to work on a mission, which will blow your mind. Note: These new programs do not use any additional samples, so you do not have to reorganize anything in your Wave's sample partition as long as you have kept the factory samples." click here for more info.

Help if you can and remember folks, write down your serial numbers and keep them somewhere safe.

Update: another tip from Loren: "people ought to also take photos of thier gear in their homes... insurance companies want to SEE that stuff to give concrete proof that the gear was owned by the individual that was robbed. - Loren"

Something else I heard was to mark your synth on the inside or underside. Not too crazy about marking the original condition of a synth, and having people open them up, but for older used analog gear, the marks might already be there. Photograph them and keep them online somewhere.
