From the looks and sounds of this the Wilgamat is the auto-accompaniment and drum box from the Elka X-705 (possibly the most fantastic keyboard in existence). Given that Wilgamats regularly clear £100, and Elka Rhapsodies & Elka Soloists make £200 each, the X-705 with two Rhapsodies, one Soloist, one Wilgamat, two drawbar organs, a dedicated preset analogue bass synth and a spring reverb represents something of a colossal bargain as they rarely raise over £300. Unfortunately they're also colossally heavy so look for one in your area. Berliners, get your money out - ;)"
"The presets can be combined by pressing 2 buttons are and using the Cancel button, individual sounds are removed, thus resulting unique rhythms. The sound of the sound is absolutely gorgeous and 100% analog."
YouTube via exhadley "'Gristleism' is a sound generator in a box, that contains 13 loops. It almost like the FM3 buddha but with a different aproach ;)"
YouTube via SpacehotelMusic "Some examples of sounds from the SY77.. and just one sound on the Polysix (it wasn't a full synth demo). SY77 is *NOT* only a 'rompler'. The AFM synthesis system + RCM if you want it gives this synth immense depth and flexibility of sound.
Playing some 'you tube standards' here inc Axel-F and Take on Me for comparison. I wasn't trying to play things perfectly here so excuse timing mistakes and general randomness ;)"
I was just going through the Bob Moog Foundation 2010 Calendar in more detail. I noticed a couple of interesting bits I failed to mention in my previous post. For each month not only are holidays marked on the calendar, but interesting moments in Moog history are as well. In addition to this, each month appears to have a quote from Bob Moog. I noticed that many of the quotes came from Albert Glinsky's THEREMIN: ETHER MUSIC AND ESPIONAGE. From the website:
"Leon Theremin (1896-1993) led a life of flamboyant musical invention laced with daring electronic stealth. A creative genius and prolific inventor, Theremin launched the field of electronic music virtually singlehandedly in 1920 with the musical instrument that bears his name. The theremin--the only instrument that is played without being touched--created a sensation worldwide and paved the way for the modern syntehsizer... Its otherworldly sound became familiar in sci-fi films and even in rock music. This magical instrument that charmed millions, howver, is only the beginning of the story.
As a Soviet scientist, Theremin surrendered his life and work to the service of State espionage..."
Renoise is tracker software. What is tracker software? In simplest terms think of it as sequencing software that allows you to trigger either samples or VSTs via multiple tracks. Renoise 2.5 is taking it to the next level by allowing each step in the sequence to to do more than just trigger a sound.
via Renoise, where you'll find more detail: "Just in time for a new decade, Renoise gets an upgrade from executive suite to penthouse with a panoramic view. The Renoise Pattern Matrix, both a bird's eye view and a song editor, is the missing link that pushes Renoise's unique approach to music composition to the next level. It's the perfect companion to the "eyes on the details" appearance and capabilities of the Pattern Editor.
Renoise meta-devices (FX units that receive and transform parameters and other non-audio data) are now interconnectable across tracks. This opens the door to more modular approaches, like linking LFOs or key/audio signals all throughout your mix. Two new meta-devices round-up this "do anything" experience, giving the sound artist the freedom to connect and modulate all parameters with all others.
That's just the beginning. Vastly improved MIDI mapping, automated rendering of plugin instruments to samples, a native guitar & bass amp simulator FX, performance optimizations, GUI improvements and much more..."
Be sure to also see this CDM post for Peter Kirn's take on Renoise 2.5. He states, "imagine if you suddenly got the modulate-anything, script-anything, customize-anything, control-anything-with-anything, use OSC and MIDI and keyboards everywhere you’ve been asking for."
The following is the first user video showing Renoise Beta 2.5.

"This is a co-mission piece based on the original "Impressionist Drum Scape". Huge drums, big bass and beautiful waves."
