Earthquakes Generate Music in Realtime

YouTube via kamoni
"Tectonic is a sound sculpture created in real time by earthquakes as they occur across the globe. A tightly integrated system between Max/MSP, Google Earth and Ableton Live processes a stream of real-time data that is translated into synthesis and sample playback parameters."

Frequency-Dividing Q-119 "Q-Torial"

YouTube via morbius001
"No Frequency-Divider? No problem. Here is one, of several techniques, showing how to use an analog stepping sequencer (S.com Q-119) as a great Frequency-Divider... which means, ya don't have to buy one. This technique can be used with a Q960 sequencer... and probably many others. In this technique, 'gate' or 'trigger' signals are NOT used... this uses Control-Voltages!"

Doug Slocum's Beautiful "Steampunk" Modular System

You can find more images of this amazingly beautiful system here and on the SSL website here.

via Grant Richter of Wiard on the Wiard list.

Update via ark in the comments: "There is a picture on the front page of donslepian.com of Don Slepian playing this same synth. (I know because I took it)"

Update via dugernaut in the comments: "I'm a bit late to the party, but I thank you for all your comments.

For those that disliked my synth efforts, I can only say that the amount energy that went into creating that SteamPunk look is what TOTALLY inspired me to make this crazy machine in the first place. It was a complete labour of Love.

Since meeting Dr. Moog at his office in the late '60s / early '70s in Trumansburg, I've felt a special something for modular / analog synths.

You can take a Synth out of Modular, but you'll never take "modular" of of synth!

Rest in peace, Bob. I love you. I hope you're having a great time chatting with my father over a couple beers, watching a football game at that pub!"

Audiotool pulverisateur

via Dan303

It looks like Hobnox's Audiotool will feature a new synth called pulverisateur. If you are not familiar with Audiotool, check it out here. Think of is as online VSTs of classic gear including Roland TR-808, TR-909, TB-303 and effects.

They have also added Tone Matrix based on the monome 256. Fun stuff.
