1Song1Week1Year - Week 15 - Busking
YouTube via DJDJSMusic — April 09, 2010 — "When I first saw the Tenori-On on other people's YouTube Videos I knew I wanted to have one, despite the negative comments some people where making on various boards (I knew that those people just didn't get it). But the most amazing thing about my sudden love affair with an instrument I didn't even know existed before last August was that I saw myself standing in front of an audience playing music with one.
Now this may not seem a big deal to you. But I am someone who spent my teen years either reading SF books or playing computer games, and who spent his professional life programming computers. I have no musical training, I don't know a "Key" from a "Cord" and couldn't hold a tune to save my own life. But suddenly I have this image of playing my music in front of a live audience. Well... at 43 years of age I guess I'm having a mid life crisis.
I have had great fun this past half year with my on-line social networking and making my YouTube videos. But there is only one true test for music and that is playing in front of a live audience.
So last Saturday I purchased a battery powered Amp. and I have spent the last week practising my songs "out loud" for the first time.
Tomorrow's weather forecast is "Dry with sunny spells" so I don't have the usual Irish excuse of the weather to stop me. Will I actually be able to hold my nerve to stand in the street and play my music, and what will the people passing by make of it?
Stop by my blog http://www.djdjs.com/ for updates :)
PS Luckily I'll be able to delete this comment if it all goes pear shaped."
A progressive theme
YouTube via attorks — April 09, 2010 — "This sequence developed while I was experimenting with my newly built Ian Fritz Teezer Through-Zero VCO. Also the Buchla LoPass Gate is used to mix various sources. The Doepfer MAQ16/3 has an 8 step sequence on row 1 which is driving the Synthesizers.com, the TZ VCO and the Blacet MiniWave. Row 2 has an 8 step sequence which is driving the self-built Modular. Row 3 has a 16 step sequence driving the Roland XP-80 with a bass sound. The solo is performed on the Clavia Nord Lead 1 and the high string sound come from the Waldorf Q Keyboard."

"This is a musical exploration experience in which multiple participants simultaneously interact with a sound synthesizer by arranging a special set of pieces on top of a multitouch surface.
Pieces exhibit different behaviours when placed on the surface - some act like triggers in a drum machine, some behave like a kaoss pad, while others add extra layers of sound to make the performance really come together. Pieces are sensitive to their position and orientation on the table, so users can cycle through different instruments or modulate sound parameters with a simple twisting or sliding motion.
We believe the key here is to design a system which is simple enough for people with little musical ability to enjoy, while providing enough control to allow people with a stronger background to deliver more complex performances. It´s similar to the reactable, but provides a simpler interface for everyone to enjoy.
