DIY Atari Controller Noise Synth

"This is a nice hand built noise machine with an Atari controller that can be patched to different controls and a light censor that can be patched to different controls the light theremin controller reacts to light you do not need to use the light theremin but it is fun and makes for cool noises the Atari controller has a on of trigger for momentary noise and a toggle for sustained noise and a big knob that can be patched to different spots on the rca patch bay x 4. there are 8 sound knobs that interact with one another on the box itself each one has a on of toggle. runs on 9v battery that goes in the back easily assessable with Velcro cover. has rca patch bay and 1/4 inch out put."

"finally close to finished. after working on this app, i really just want to make music for awhile.
a bunch of samplers which are controlled/triggered like phases of a moon. The vertical 'serpents' create stutter effects. The horizontal 'serpents' control the sequencer(the serpent traverses the orbit into which the moons must enter). In addition, there is a cellular automata matrix sequencer which controls effects' preset-triggering. Effects include a sidechained comp, peaklimiter, filters(lopass,hipass,bandpass,notch), my FFT secretsauce, tempo-synced variable-shape amplitude cutting, and variable ping-pong delays(plus one main output mastering VST plugin option). Fed into the FFT secretsauce(a convolution effect i call RedShift) are a choice of 2 synths to convolve with output from the samplers: one is 'atebyte' which is an 8-bit emulating synth created by Jack A. Perkins and Vlad Spears(modded by me), another is 'noisul8or', a noise-based subtractive synth created by Chris Core(also modded by me).
All this makes for one monstrous spaceship console which I can currently only fly at the recruit level but soon, we will journey through the event-horizon as though the singularity was 1st nature.

Alessandro Cortini's SONOIO Released - Buchla Goodness

Alessandro Cortini's SONOIO is now available on sonoio.org. If you haven't previously checked out the four promo tracks on site, do it now. What you will be listening to was all written on the Buchla 200 and 200e. All tracks primarily feature the Buchla with Jomox Xbase 09 for some of the drums. The full release features nine tracks. The following are the tracks and the synths used for each. Note tracks 1, 3, and 6 are 100% Buchla 200, and track 9 is 100% 200e.

This is a great album on first listen and only gets better over time. The fact that it's primarily all Buchla only makes it better, as not only can you appreciate the tracks from a musical perspective, but you can really focus in on some of what the Buchla is capable of. This is essentially all Buchla in a modern rock recording. Buchla Rock and Roll (you might remember that one from Alessandro's NIN days. It's also worth noting Alessandro Cortini recently perfomed with Don Buchla at the San Fransisco Electronic Music Festival (SFEMF). SONOIO has been added to the Synth CDs post.

Available on http://www.sonoio.org/ you will also find the SuONOIO, available with a digital download of the album for $159.99. Note the extra "u". The SuONOIO is hardware. What does it mean and what exactly is it? From the site:
