Boss PC-2 Analog Percussion Synthesizer

via this auction

"This is a rare classic Boss PC-2 Percussion Synthesizer. It was released in 1984 or so, and hasn't been made in many years. It's an entirely analog module, and has control knobs for sensitivity, pitch, decay, sweep, LFO rate, and LFO depth. It also has a sliding switch to select triangle or square wave for the LFO. It can be triggered either with the integrated percussion pad, or by plugging another sound source into the 1/4" input jack. It can be powered either with a 9V battery or a standard Boss PSA A/C adapter. The complete manual for the PC-2 can be found on Roland's web site: PDF manual."

Evening of Waves on my Microkorg XL

YouTube via joyoussound | November 22, 2010 |

"A very small demonstration of the 'digital' side of microKORG XL I made for a friend. It is perfectly able to imitate those 80's digital KORG type of sounds (DW-8000, DS-8, DSS-1). A little bit of modulating delay is introduced in the middle of the video. Maybe some glitched drums would work over this and I could turn this into a complete song. I just haven't had the time to do so."

vintage Synare 2 matrix drum synth

via this auction
"The Synare 2: This was Star's flagship model., with one oscillator with sawtooth, and pulse waveforms, white noise generator, etc. But this had assignable functions, ie. routing the LFO to control certain parameters at once. The LFO also added a sawtooth waveform) You could also select a wide range of octaves for the pitch to sound at, along with a fine tune function. A major adjustment was the introduction of a fairly advanced sequencer with different patters, and the ability to change patterns and octaves. You could also adjust the speed and the note(s) sounded by the sequencer.

Plus, it had 16 pads instead of just four. Retail price in 1976 was $1,395.00. Made roughly from 1976-1982 Extremely rare."

TR606 Zombie Mod

via locoder on electro-music.com

"Hi everyone, I am actually working on a complete new processor for Roland TR606 I have finished most of the code, so I can play and enter drums etc works great, I had a dead TR606 and looked around for like 3 years for a replacement processor.....no luck, so I decided to just code a replacement, I want to add features like shuffle, I have completed the code for that but it does not sound correct? in my code I have a variable that gets incremented every time the sync 24 clock signal has a rising or falling edge, on the first step I add one to this variable to give 7 clock cycles before the next drum trig happens then on the next I minus 1 to give 5 clock cycles before the next drum trig, so essentially I am moving the odd steps forward a little bit, but it does not sound very good on anything above 2 shifted cycles, its weird because my code is sound, but I am guessing that it is something else I have not thought of? I noticed that other people still keep the 6 cycles per step but shift them forward? so effectively you have 7 cycles for the first step and 6 for the next is this correct? I want to add flam, midi as much as I can or have various version? if anyone can help me with the shuffle timing problem or is interested in getting one of these mods done? let me know, I will post a video soon on youtube or something or I can email you one?"

Update via locoder: "I should also mention that I have completed, some small SMD analog voice add ins for the TR606 which include a 909ish bass drum, clap and snare, as you may or may not know there is not much room inside the tiny 606, hence me making the analog voices all surface mount."

Update 6/2/12: See the comments below for new info and/or this post.
