Intellijel Azimuth, Mutagen and HexVCA

"Mutagen: 12HP
6x3 performance mixer
- 6 direct coupled inputs suitable for audio or CV
-each channel has a slide switch to select one of three output busses A/B/C
-each channel has a logic controlled mute. Mute generated by tactile switch or pulse/gate to the CTL inputs (pulse mode or gate mode selected by jumpers on back).
-leds show mute status
-Mute/Gate inputs accept any signal with a rising edge (could be sine, triangle, random etc.)
-Has link via ribbon cable to HexVCA

NOTE: panel displayed is a sample. They are revising them with smaller square punch outs for the switches so that they will be more flush.

HexVCA: 8HP
-6 channel VCA using high quality THATcorp VCA ICs.
-CV of each channel has led monitor
-outputs normalled to a summed output, normals broken when taken as individual outs.
-Also has inverse sum output useful for CV
-Has matching link header as found on the Mutagen for linking the two modules together. Link connects the outputs of each vca to the input normals of the mixer.
-Leds color coordinated to help keep track of channels bewteen the two.
-knobs control VCA offset (range -70db to 0db)
-6 trimmers on back of module for attenuating CV input range (or use uAtt)

Azimuth: 8hp
-Constant power panner/stereo ballance/crossfader and dual vca
-contains an additional vactrol based stereo width circuit (allows cv control of stereo material in the range of mono->stereo->extra wide via negative cross bleed.
-Bipolar and Unipolar CV inputs for the pan control
-Leds have smooth fading for displaying pan position.

Combine all three to get a VC mixer with VC stereo controls, volume and muting.

NOTE: these three modules will go into production in approximately one week but will not be ready in time for x-mas. Should ship first week of January.

Special thanks to Shawn @ AH for coaxing me into making a mixer and panner. Also thanks again to Haven and James for lot's of great ideas and input."

"Here's a video of another morris box that was finished last week.

This time, I'm running the morris box through an empress super delay. I've always loved this combo, so I figured it was about time I shot some footage of them together.

This unit, along with two others, will be on sale at Transistor in Chicago soon. Check out their website here: http://www.transistorchicago.com/

Flutes of Fire - $9,995 Sample Set

Flutes of Fire from The Loop Loft on Vimeo.

"The finer things in life don't come cheap. Caviar, Ferraris, Chinchilla lined-mittens, just to name a few. We believe the same holds true with flute loops. Especially when they are recorded by one of the greatest flautists to ever walk the earth, Victor "El Fuego" Machatchka. You may own his Grammy Award-winning records, or have read his NY Times Best Selling-autobiography, but until you listen to these 9 loops recorded exclusively for The Loop Loft, you won't fully appreciate the virtuosity that is Machatchka. And no, that's not reverb you hear. That's the sound of genius resonating inside of Victor's tortured soul."

003 White/Light

003 White/Light from Kyle Obriot on Vimeo.

"The fine gentlemen who make up White/Light are Jeremy Lemos and Matthew Hale Clark. They sound like the super villain Galactus eating planets, epicly loud and undeniably awesome...awesome in the way Carl Sagan uses the word.
Being able to interact with the sounds Matt and Jeremy make was a joy and I feel that our excitement oozes out of every frame. This video makes me quite proud and I'm stoked to share it with you. Put your headphones on, watch it in full-screen-mode and set your phazers to drone."
Curios what that DIY electronic accordion looking piece is.

Square Waves Electronic Music Festival Pics

You might remember the event from this post. The Synthesizer Book has a write-up including more pics.

"I marveled at the fantastic attendance. Most of all, it was quite encouraging for me, to meet so many local artist, synthesist, and people interested in building their own instruments and creating new sounds with with modular synthesizers."
