How to make a soft version of Oxygene 2 with minimal equipment : only 2 synths !
All is hand and by ear played .This is a very "light" cover ! I recorded 10 audio tracks with Presonus Studio One, but without automation and I have to add 2 tracks for noises with the Roland SH-101.
I only use Rythmus (by ElektroStudio), Alesis Fusion 8 HD, Roland SH-101, Electro-Harmonix Small Stone (Phaser) and Memory Boy (Tape Delay).
I'm beginner, and not a musician, so ... sorry for bad hand playing and tempo not respected sometimes !

Cheers from Thierry ! next step : Equinoxe & Rendez-vous ..."

"One Alesis Fusion 8 HD + one Roland SH-101 + one Electro-Harmonix Small Stone + one Electro-Harmonix Memory Boy + software Rythmus by ElektroStudio, one USB AudioBox Presonus + Studio One + very much time to analyze = one cover of Oxygene 2 - Jean Michel Jarre, by a non musician, newbie in music, but working by ear and all hand played with errors on tempo and fingers position, ... so SORRY for mistakes !

"Bleep Labs Bit Blob 2 being given a little delay effect from the Alesis mixer, Korg ER-1 MKII and Korg ES-1 MKII, and Korg Z1 Organ patch.

The Bit Blob is a sonic powerhouse, so much fun. Short clip, ran out of video tape while recording, sorry, enjoy...."

Iced Melodica

ISOTROPOSPHERE | January 12, 2011 |

"Stayed home due to ice storm here and broke out the 1967 Hohner Melodica student model my friend gave to me. His Mother got this brand new back in the day. I had to replace a broken screw on it and acquire a new mouthpiece, now she's up and running again.

Korg ER-1 MKII and Korg ES-1 MKII provide rythums. Melodica has a generous amount of Hall effect on it from the Alesis mixer. Enjoy....."

New Mobile Application Transforms Every Guitar Player into a Rock Prodigy

"Interactive App Teaches and Hones Skills Using a Real Guitar, Any Guitar

LOS ANGELES (Jan. 12, 2011) – All guitar players, from beginner to advanced, can now reach prodigy status with the launch of a new mobile application, Rock Prodigy™, that teaches users how to play a real guitar, any guitar, with the help of an Apple® iPhone®, iPad® or iPod® Touch. Using polyphonic pitch-recognition, Rock Prodigy allows all guitar players to learn, experience and absorb the music from legendary rock guitarists including James Hetfield of Metallica, Jerry Garcia of Grateful Dead and Joe Trohman of Fall Out Boy.

The app immerses users in original master recordings of popular guitar-centric songs, while simultaneously providing real-time feedback as players strum along with a real guitar. The interactive app also has the ability to auto-pause and uses tab-like performance cues for all four levels of play, which show precise rhythm, timing and note durations with real-time interaction and performance evaluation.

Allowing players to learn on the go, Rock Prodigy requires no additional hardware as guitarists can play directly into their mobile devices using the built-in microphone, a standard headset with microphone or a basic line-in guitar input adapter.

'Rock Prodigy was truly created for musicians by musicians,” said Harold Lee, co-founder of Rock Prodigy and CEO of The Way of H, Inc. “By combining mobile technology, modern apps and a guitarist’s favorite bands, Rock Prodigy offers a solution to the usual hang-ups of learning guitar. Guitar masters can also learn a thing or two.'

Fusing mobile technology with a real guitar, Rock Prodigy is available for free in the iTunes App Store, with premium feature packs starting at $9.99. More information at RockProdigy.com.

vintage buchla 207

"at long last (eight years on the hunt!), my 200 series has found it's last piece.

i am only so fortunate because of the generosity of a fellow buchlaist - a person of particularly magnificent designs.

i've no words for this sort of kind gesture, only gratitude."

Vako Orchestron and Eminent 1600 Orchestra - Radioactivity (Kraftwerk)

YouTube via dietervanmarcke | February 25, 2010 |

"Playing some snippets of Radioactivity (Kraftwerk) demonstrating the "Vocal Choir" sound of the Orchestron.
This sound is the exact sound (not a replica, it IS this sound) Kraftwerk used on Radioactivity and a small number of other songs.
As you can hear, I've got some problems with pitch stability. This is due to a worn out belt that connects the motor and the wheel that actually spins the record.
More info about the Orchestron: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orchestron

The thing underneath the Orchestron is the Eminent 1600 Orchestra. This is not the intrument used by Jean-Michel Jarre (that's the 310U) thought it features the same sounds, and has a built in String Ensemble which is more or less the same than the Arp Solina String Ensemble. As you can see, I've got some problems with the contacts of the bass pedals.
It's also a pity that you can only hardly hear the sound of the bass pedals. That's because I captured this with my Nokia N900, the audio and the video...

And, sorry for the bad playing. :-)"

37 MiniMoog Testing

YouTube via 7thDanSound | January 11, 2011 |

"I just bought another vintage MiniMoog Model D and thought I'd do a video while testing that everything works. It turned out a decent walk through of quite a few of the sounds a MiniMoog can make.

I don't really know if one "needs" two MiniMoog but the price was right so I kind of had to. Also, I think there are some cool things that can be done with two Minis I suppose :) So keep an eye open for that!"
