Thing On A Spring (Chipophone)

YouTube via lftkryo | February 06, 2011 |

"One of Rob Hubbard's earliest tunes. The slide effects are triggered by pedals; other pedals are mapped to drum sounds. I goofed up considerably at the end, but decided to upload anyway. Hope you don't mind too much."

Original Orange & Black The Harvestman Malgorithm

via this auction

"This is one of the first editions of the Malgorithm. Has # 12 on the back of the face plate.

Malgorithm is the world's first voltage-controlled bitcrusher.

Both bit depth and sampling rate are independently controllable by knob or control voltage. Additionally, a primitive digital waveshaper can make your signal hurt, with eight different modes (and optional rectification afterwards.)

Use the Malgorithm to bring external signals into aesthetic compliance with the rest of the Harvestman system. Enable eloquence through spectral profanity.

specifications
20kHz maximum sampling rate, down to 200Hz
8 bits maximum resolution, down to 1 bit

10Vpp signal output
Input attenuation. Hard analog clipping on hot signals if desired.
Voltage controlled bit depth and sampling rate with attenuators. Manual control/CV offset.
Control voltages are processed at the same priority as audio input.
Toggle switches for rectification of signal, as well as destructive bitwise waveshaping: conditional bit-swap and XOR feedback functions.
Panel size: 9HP
Current consumption: 50ma or less"

General Electric Cased Voice of Saturn Synthesizer

via this auction

"This auction is for an aptly named synthesizer, built into an antique metal chasis that once house an old General Electric multimeter. This is true synth DIY goodness.

Home-made, one of a kind synth that uses the Voice of Saturn circuit. Using 3 oscilators and LFO control, it produces an endless supply of drones, bleeps, bloops, buzzes, sweeps and noise. It can be hooked up to a sequencer and controlled, but it does not track note for note - rather you'll get organized rhythmic patterns of notes. Check out the video of the synth in action and the samples here (coming soon) that demonstrate some of the loop and composition possibilities."

Sequential Circuits PROPHET 5 Rev 3.2 in Original Box

via this auction

"This auction is for an extremely mint Prophet 5 synthesizer made by Sequential Circuits in 1981. This Prophet 5 has sat idle in the original box for nearly 30 years and because of this is in excellent cosmetic and sonic condition. It functions completely! The wood is very dark still as this synth has not seen sunlight for most of its life. It was played in a studio environment back when it was purchased, and then put in the original box for storage for 3 decades."

Malaventura touchOSC suite

Malaventura touchOSC suite from malaventura on Vimeo.

Note the step sequence progressing. I'm trying to get more info on that. TouchOSC does not have a step sequencer last I checked and I don't believe it receives info back - it's all one way from TouchOSC/iPad to whatever it is controlling. If anyone has more info feel free to comment or shoot me an email. I did leave a message with malaventura. Update: more info in the comments of this post. TouchOSC can receive messages back.

Video description:
"A touchOSC layout for iPad that contains a step sequencer monosynth & drum machine, a ambient generator, a psychedelic fx unit & operator synth controller. All designed for works in iPad with touchOSC, OSCulator and Ableton Live in your computer. The layout and all the files necessary are zipped in this link:

Oakley Croglin Voltage Controlled Dual Low Pass Filter

via Oakley where you'll find more info. A snip for the archvies:

"The Oakley Croglin Voltage Controlled Filter is based around two unusual and quirky low pass filter circuits that operate either together or against each other.

The filter design is inspired by a peculiar low pass filter topology first seen in a portable synthesizer from the late 1970s. For the Croglin VCF I have completely redesigned the circuit to produce a stable, lower noise design that unlike the original covers a much wider frequency range and gives the user far greater control over the parameters of the filter.

The cut off frequency of each filter can be controlled by a common control voltage and the front panel's Frequency pot. The second filter's cut off frequency can also be offset from the first. This can be done with either the Offset pot or an offset CV. The offset can be both positive, making the cut off frequency of the second filter higher than the first with a positive input CV, or negative, making the frequency lower than the first.

The two filters work in parallel on the audio input signal. The output of the first filter is then passed directly to the output but a proportion of the second filter may be added or subtracted from this. The level of the second filter is controlled by the Duality pot. In the middle position the Duality pot allows no audio to come from the second filter. Fully clockwise the second filter is added to the first filter's output. Fully anti-clockwise the second filter's output will subtract and cancel out those parts of it that are common with the first's output. A wide variety of tonal responses can be made; from the traditional low pass filter and band pass sounds to complex vocal like formants."

Croglin VCF Demos by Takla Makan
"These are some demonstration tracks made with the Oakley Sound Croglin VCF. The set up is a standard synth with two VCOs, one VC-LFO, one Croglin VCF, a couple of Multimixes and a couple of ADSR/VCAs.

In all of them the Croglin is both manually tweaked and automagically tweaked by either the LFO or the ADSR."
