"With Badlion’s Garage Synth anyone can be a musician. Just pick a beat and play some tunes over it, add some effects and you already have a hot track to listen to. Don't forget to connect your loudspeakers or headphones to get the full experience!

> selectable keyboard – flash & rainbow / basic minimal
> 48 beats – changeable volume and tempo
> 8 samples – 4 octaves
> 44 fx – loop or stop (once) functions
> tilt – you can pitch notes by tilting the phone

Sounds are not mixed or mastered, so they are not studio quality. Hence garage. Updates will bring you new sounds and features.

The following sounds can be found in the synth:
- samples: analog synthesizer
- beats: paperbox, metal pin, mac keyboard
- fx: buzzsaw, blower, lawnmower, drill, kids' toys, guitar, acoustic noises, voices.

If you get the hang of it, you’ll be hanging out with it all the time.

If you have second thoughts about purchasing:

a) try the free version (The Badlion's Lite)
b) see this independent review and watch the iPad edition video http://www.cutthenoise.com/2010/08/14/badlions-garage-synth-for-ipad-and-iphone-review/"

RIP Roger Nichols - Creator of the Wendel Sampling Computer

http://www.rogernichols.com/

Update: see site for donations.

via Wikipedia: "Roger Scott Nichols (September 22, 1944 – April 9, 2011)[1] was an American seven-time Grammy Award-winning recording engineer and producer. Nichols was best known for his work with the group Steely Dan and John Denver, but his work includes numerous major music acts including the Beach Boys, Stevie Wonder, Frank Zappa, Crosby Stills & Nash, Al Di Meola, Roy Orbison, Cass Elliot, Plácido Domingo, Gloria Estefan, Diana Ross, Bela Fleck & the Flecktones, Rickie Lee Jones, Kenny Loggins, Mark Knopfler, Eddie Murphy, Michael McDonald, James Taylor, and Toots Thielemans, among others. In 2006 Nichols' work was formally recognized by The Recording Academy (Grammys) Producers and Engineers Wing."

"In 1978, Nichols pioneered the technique of "digital drum replacement" by inventing the Wendel sampling computer, which was used to provide some of the drum and percussion sounds on Steely Dan's album, Gaucho, notably the song "Hey Nineteen". This technology is now commonplace in music production around the world."
