Oscillographics 2011

YouTube Uploaded by BugBrand on Sep 16, 2011

"Back in 2007 I played around with an old circuit from Elektor Magazine called 'Oscillographics' [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mig4oDcu2qQ].

At that time I'd come across a couple of other circuits along similar lines, but it has taken a few years for me to actually get around to trying another one out. This time it is 'The Oscilloscope Graphic Artist' from the November 1975 issue of Practical Electronics, a project by Mitchell Waite - you can find the project and some more description online here: http://www.crowncity.net/ratcave/Electro/ScopeArt/ScopeArt.html

A master oscillator (simple LFO type circuit) provides synchronisation to three further simple oscillators. Each oscillator can be switched between Triangle and Square wave-form and then there are level controls to create different mixes to drive the XY mode 'scope. There are probably quite a lot of tweaks and developments that can be done to the circuitry - these initial tests use a faithful reproduction of the original project.

And, at the same time, you can hear the harmonic waveforms generated by the circuity.

By the way - this was a pretty exploratory play with the new circuit - just trying things out and seeing what is produced. Long and rambling? Yes!"

I Once Was A Mighty Lasersword - Bending a toy lasersword PCB on a cardboard plattform

Uploaded by elohess2 on Sep 8, 2011

"Soundsamples of an experiment. I've got a toy lasersword, I opened it and removed a small PCB with a blob on it. I removed the pitch resistor and added a pot, a lfo and some more dirty electronics. I've made this during hearing a radio show of Wolfang Dorning from Linz. I met Uwe Schüler, Jördis Drawe and Wolfgang in Dresden at the Circuit Bending Festival this year. During this festival I've worked everything on such cardboard "breadboards". It is a simple way to build circuits which can transported in a "half state".
In the vid you hear noises only generated with this board. I've added a delay to the recording. It was a long session, the sound changes during the whole recording. Warning it's noise!"
