Kawai K5M additive synth with MM-16 Fader controller
via this auction
"First of all this is a really cool synth very different from typical gear of this vintage.
Most Synths use subtractive synthesis or are samplers.
The K5M is a multi timbrel additive synth. This means that you make sounds by adding together sine wave harmonics or partials. Each harmonic has an envelope - right there you have an amazing combination... [see the Intro to Synthesis post for reference]
The MM-16 also can be used as a generic fader controller for midi mixing, software synths, and controls inside your favorite DAW.
There is a yahoo users group for this, just search on yahoo groups for K5 or K5M
Other interesting features of the K5M - 16 different sounds can go on the 16 midi channels, you can select how many voices go to each channel, there are 4 hardware audio outputs, and a removable programmable card is included."
Monolase (monome app) [Based on Ciat Lonbarde Cocolase
"My second monome app!
From the description:
8-bit modulated delay/sampler based on the ciat-lonbarde Cocolase.
Features:
Two 8-bit sampler/delays being modulated by a “Sidrassi” brain, consisting of five oscillators which can be audiorate or LFO, and triangle or square. These modulation sources can be patched to different parameters (as well as each other) to create complex patterns. There are an additional three “rambrains” which are some of the oscillators sampled at the rate of other oscillators, for even more complex waveforms.
Each delay/sampler has control over input, feedback, and pitch. You can patch the modulation sources to “flip” which controls playhead direction, “skip” which controls playhead position, and “afec” which controls playback speed.
Instructions:
Top Row are modulation sources. They are variable rate oscillators that can be LFOs or audio rate and triangle or square.
They can be patched to themselves or to various parameters of each cocolase module. The parameters are “flip” (changing direction), “skip” (jumping position) and “afec” (playback speed).
You can adjust the “ip” to control how much flip/skip are effected, and “afec” to control how much the speed is effected.
Unordered List ItemRows 2-7 are the parameters for modulation.
Row2 - flip for cocolase2
Row3 - flip for cocolase1
Row4 - skip for cocolase2
Row5 - skip for cocolase1
Row6 - afec for cocolase2
Row7 - afec for cocolase1
Row8 contains the playback controls. These are two identical sets of 4 buttons.
Button1 - cocolase engage
Button2 - play/stop
Button3 - sound/silence
Button4 - delay/sample
The sound and functionality are modeled after the hardware Cocolase (which I own) and it would help to read the manual linked below to get a handle on the device a bit more.
Things that will get added:
Arc2 functionality. Arc stuff everywhere!
Upsampling of core samplers to allow for more extreme modulation without digital artifacts."

YouTube Uploaded by metasonix on Jan 11, 2012
"A prototype R-55 thyratron VCO is controlled with a Makenoise Rene sequencer, with an R-54 VCO tuned to track along.
If you want to see more of the R-55, prototypes will be on display at 2012 Winter NAMM, in the Big City Music booth (6735). Shipment expected by May 2012."

Lexicon Model 200 Digital Reverberator
YouTube Uploaded by repeatle on Jan 13, 2012
"Lovely old school digital reverb. It's perfect for dub music, because of the ability to mute the input signal, or stop the reverb with buttons on the front panel."
A quick note on effects posts:
1. They have to be used with synths, and/or:
2. They have to feature synth sounds, and/or:
3. They have to feature synth functionality, and/or:
4. They have to come from companies typically associated with synths.
General effects typically don't get posted.

NAMM: SSL Modulation Orgy

"Quick vid of some orgy action"
via Synthetic Sound Labs (SSL) aka teamsynth.com
"The SSL 2260 Modulation Orgy LFO is the illegitimate Euro cousin to our 1260 Tap Tempo LFO, and is a special module indeed. You can set the LFO frequency by tapping the TAP button, supplying a periodic gate to the SYNC input, or by changing the Tempo CV. You can build tap tempo effects vibratos and tremolos, tap tempo controlled drum machines or tap tempo sequencer clocks. Or use it the other way around - control the 2260 tempo with a sequencer! You can even use multiple 2260s to create polyrhythmic LFOs using the built-in Multiplier ratios. Awesome possibilities!
The 2260 can produce 8 waveforms, including a random (sample & hold) wave..."
Giving this one the NAMM label as I believe it is new. The only other post I have featuring the steampunk Orgy was back on Dec 31 here. Mmm... a Steampunk Orgy.
