Slow Synth Jam (MicroKORG, A-Station, fraAngelico, MeeBlip, Kaosspad, etc.)

YouTube Published on Aug 5, 2012 by flx04

"A slow synthesizer jam with the following gear:

MicroKORG, Korg Kaosspad Quad & Kaosspad Mini effects, MFB 522 analog drum machine, Electribe ER-1, Roland U-110, Novation A-Station, Standuino fraAngelico, MeeBlip, Akai APC20 and Ableton Live (for MIDI sequencing).

I programmed most of the patterns beforehand and triggered them live via the APC20. The small Akai LPK25 USB-MIDI keyboard plays the Novation A-Station when it's not sequenced. The fast, pitch-increasing "beep beep beep" sound comes from the Korg Electribe ER-1 drum machine. The blippy, videogame-like sound is the fraAngelico. The piano is the Roland U-110. The Kaosspad Mini adds some distortion to the MFB 522 drums and the Kaosspad Quad adds some reverb and hi-frequency resonance to the final mix.

The rack box contains the A-Station and the U-110 rack synths, as well as a 1U slide-out tray that has some small gear on it.

If you have any questions or comments, feel free to write me a message or comment below this video.

Tenori-On iPad MIDI Output & Sync Demo

YouTube Published on Mar 9, 2012 by flx04
Part one below.

"This video tutorial shows off some of the MIDI output functionality of Yamaha's Tenori-On (TNR-i) iOS App.

You can use the Tenori-On App to sequence external hardware and software, like synthesizers or DAWs. I'm showing a MFB Nanozwerg, a MFB 522 Drum Machine and a MicroKorg in this video, as well as Ableton Live. Each Tenori-On layer corresponds to a MIDI channel, so you could output up to 16 different sequences at the same time. Apart form regular step-sequencer score layers, there are also random layers, bounce layers and more, to mix your sequences up a bit.

I'm using the Apple Camera Connection Kit and a USB-to-MIDI Cable to connect the iPad to Ableton Live. Other DAWs and CoreMIDI compatible interfaces like the Alesis I/O Dock, Line6 MIDI-Mobilizer II or the iRig MIDI should work as well.

The iPad 1 in this video runs iOS 5.0.1.

kiloHearts Releases Faturator

"Linköping, Sweden (July 27 2012) - kiloHearts, developer of AU and VST plugins for Windows and Mac, has announced the release of a new plug-in: Faturator.

Faturator is a saturation/distortion unit, providing effects ranging from subtle warm saturation to harsh digital fuzz. On top of this, included coloring and stereo widening allows for changing the character of the sound in a quick and easy way. Contrary to many distortion effects, Faturator will preserve the dynamics of your sound and apply its effects on it regardless of input gain.

Like all kiloHearts' products, focus lies on ease of use while providing powerful functionality at a low price point. Faturator's simple user interface puts all controls at the fingertips of the user, making it easy to quickly find the sound you want. "A lot of plugins these days try to compete with feature lists, often forgetting that they're part of a creative process", says Per Svanberg, developer and co-founder. "We want to isolate the most important parts, and make them as quickly and easily accessible as possible.

"Up for sale is the rare italian Davolisint. Surprisingly fat sounding synthesizer from the 70′ies. Pretty simple synth without a VCF but with 2 great sounding VCO’s. Just fully disassembled, cleaned, checked and serviced by Elektroakustik Wagner. The unit is fully working with minor wear. All faders run smooth without crackling."
