M-Z3R0 - First steps with midi input - Midi controller & cubase to arduino
Published on Oct 23, 2012 by manufacturedZ3R0
"I've been working on programming in the arduino environment and midi on and off for a month or two now and now have a basic understanding of how the midi protocol works and how to implement it. Although this project doesn't look like much it is the first step to adding midi input to my circuit bent projects. I've got a way to go yet with both programming and things like multiplexing in order to gain control of the full range of a keyboard but hope to soon have something hooked up and playing via midi."

"Serge Q-Filter, Buchla 267e, Hordijk Dual Phaser and Blippoo Box. Eventide space, time and pitchfactor.
To welcome the addition of a Hordijk System to my sonic arsenal I patched up a small Quartett. Have I mentioned that I love pinged filters?"
Ruin Electronics CDS-1 Analog Drone Noise Synthesizer

Demos below.
"This is the Ruin Electronics CDS-1 (Compact Drone Synth). This is a one of a kind instrument. It was professionally built and designed by Ruin. The unit has been built into a vintage transistor radio case. Faux wood grain, chrome, and brushed aluminum give it a classy retro look.
The CDS-1 is new; no previous owners.
The CDS-1 is a 100% Analog synthesizer in a sturdy case with a fashionable carrying handle. The CDS-1 is not only a Drone and noise Synthesizer, but a sound effects generator. The filter sounds very vocal and organic. Paired with the thick oscillators, some strange alien vocalizations can be made. The CDS-1 offers a wide range of sounds with its excellent compliment of functions. There is no other drone/noise/experimental synth out there like this, especially in such a compact package! Despite being small, there is still plenty of room to use the controls so no play-ability is sacrificed.
Space sounds, crackles, hums, percussion, alien speech, warbles, zaps, clangs, bangs. This is a great unit for performance, sampling, or just plain old fun!
The units approximate measurements are:
7.75" width x 3" depth x 6" height

The unit features:
3x Square waveform VCOs (Voltage Controlled Oscillators) with individual tuning per oscillator and a master pitch control. The oscillators go from subsonic to ultrasonic with a twist of the control.
Ringmod/Mix switch which either ringmods the oscillators together or mixes them evenly.
2x Triangle/Square waveform LFOs (Low Frequency Oscillators) for modulation. LFO 1 can be routed to either the VCA or VCOs. Each LFO has a Depth and Speed control.
VCA (Voltage Controlled Amplifier) which can be controlled by LFO 1 or manually with the VCA depth knob.
Bandpass VCF (Voltage Controlled Filter). The filter is extremely resonant and will self oscillate. LFO2 is dedicated to the modulation of the VCF. The VCF has a Frequency and Resonance control.
1/4" Output
Built in Speaker and Amplifier. When the 1/4" output is unplugged the unit will emit sound from its internal speaker which adds great portability to the unit.
9V battery or DC adapter. With a choice of either 9V battery or external DC adapter the unit can be a portable unit for busking or impromptu outside jam sessions or a studio piece. Featuring an on board regulator the unit will clean up any power source from 9-15V"
Please check out this multi-tracked demo using only the CDS-1. No external effects were used. Imagine the possibilities! CDS-1 demo by Ruin
