iPad MIDI Melodeon 2.0 Core MIDI Demo

Published on Oct 28, 2012 by tradlessons

"Here's a demo of upcoming version 2.0 of my MIDI Melodeon app for iPad with CoreMIDI support. Supports both B/C and D/G style layouts. The port from the old DSMI interface was trivial, took less than an hour. DSMI really isn't supported anymore so all future versions will be CoreMIDI based. I'll also be porting the Cyborg GCF three-row app to use CoreMIDI as well. Once I have a chance to test the new code on all the various iPad models, I'll submit the update to Apple."

"Here's a demo of upcoming version 2.0 of my Cyborg GCF app for iPad with CoreMIDI support.

The iPhone didn't do a very good job of recording the bass sound from the external synth, but it gets the idea across..."

M-RGT PsyGen (demo and tutorial)

Published on Oct 27, 2012 by Ran Kirlian

"PsyGen is the new VSTi by M-RGT, it is a granular multilayer synthesizer using samples as source for unique sound generation in the creation of experimental ambient soundscapes, drones, special effects, as well as more traditional synthesizer sounds.

I find it especially useful for deep pads, complex sound worlds and dark drones, which are my main sonic field for ambient/dark ambient genres. I find it also interesting to build great extraterrestrial grooves, weird FX sounds, atmosphere recreations and bass sequences.

Its sonic power, the ease to create new and awesome sounds and its usability due to a clean interface. Also audio quality is impressive even while some of the samples are mono.
The sequencer is really useful, allowing to create very complex textures, rhythms and letting large evolving sounds take its time...

It's hard to imagine what the limit of this tool is: it's sonic possibilities are endless to me."

Jordan Passmore Demo of the Roland JX-10, Roland SH-2, Akai MPC-60

Published on Oct 27, 2012 by Jordan Passmore

"This is a demonstration of two Roland analog synths, a JX-10 and a SH-2, combined with the sequencer/sampler the MPC-60. The MPC-60 is loaded with Linn LM-1 samples (courtesy of ToneBldr, http://www.drivenmachinedrums.com ) and is also sequencing the JX-10 and SH-2. The SH-2 is doing the bass while the JX-10 is doing the melody; I am playing lines over the melody on the JX-10 occasionally. All sounds are mixed on a StudioMaster mixer and there is an analog delay (Washburn Accellerator) on one send and a EH HolyStain on another. The MPC-60 is sort of out of shot so near the end I bring the camera around to show what I'm doing with that."
