Optigan TV Commercial

Published on May 1, 2013 chumrain·6 videos

"Finally...one has been found (I know that several people have been searching high and low and haven't come up with anything). Here is a long-lost television commercial for the Optigan, starring actor Carl Betz. This is a transfer of a 16mm print made using a video camera and projector, so while the film is in good shape, this video will leave a lot to be desired. I plan to have it professionally transferred at some point. Despite always being on the lookout for any Optigan-related media, I acquired this one accidentally when I purchased a lot of film commercials on eBay that came from the estate of Cherry Hill Productions. This commercial just happened to be one of them."

Getting started with mSequencer

Published on May 13, 2013 Ryan Hemeon·55 videos

"Here is a tutorial on how to get started with mSequencer (MIDI Pattern Sequencer). In this video I use mSequencer to control all 8 channels of Korg's iPolySix via virtual midi. This video doesn't even begin to touch what a great app this is. If there is interest in it, I will definitely be making more videos on some of the more advanced procedures you can use as well as a lot of other options I couldn't get to in this video.

I highly recommend using an external midi controller with this app to build your sequences.

Conclusion: This is an excellent app for anyone wanting to program midi sequences and send them to apps via virtual midi. It gives you a larger range of control then any other sequencer app I have ever used. This app does not support Audiobus but it definitely should. Well worth it's price.

Grab this app on the AppStore: https://itunes.apple.com/ca/app/midi-...

And be sure to visit http://www.iosmars.com for more great demos, reviews, and tutorial videos."

"Demonic and dark. Or just shoegaze and noise? As with most of my machines it's geared up to do a bit of everything in the noise realm. Glitching with the delay, atmospheres, being a basic retro analogue synth, an external input for feeding what ever you like into the fx chain (shown nicely with an awful cassette i picked up at a car boot sale played backwards from a four track at 20.00 onward) Showing a bit of what it can do in a few takes. Some melodic, some just delving into dischord. Just demo of how strange it can sound when the different oscillator sources are mixed and the lfo's are routed to various combinations of destinations. It reminds me a lot in eclectic sound and the way it behaves of a modular synth. Except obviously it's hard wired. The delay is noisy at slow rates but as with most pt2399 based digital delays it fattens up and sounds warm at higher speeds. The plus side being it works as a cool glitch generator as well as a warm echo. Skip to 20 minutes in for an improv death industrial/quake 1 flavoured set.

I'm taking on commissions again now so if you want one pm me and i'll get back to you."

The one thing I love about Roland is that they appear to be offering these complimentary apps on the iPad for free.  Not all synth companies do this.  These apps really open the synth up.  Take a look at the Integra-7 iPad editor as well in this video.
