ADSR envelope generator test
Published on Jul 25, 2013 pirxmodular·3 videos
"ADSR envelope generator test using Leader LBO-9CH-B oscilloscope.
The LBO-9CH-B is a X-Y scope used as a display device in Hitachi 60 MHz NMR spectrometer. The scope has a relatively long phosphor persistence which allows looking at slow rate signals.
Here, a MFOS ADSR envelope generator controls the Y-axis of the scope. The X-axis (time) is controlled by a slow-rate sawtooth VCO synced with the envelope trigger.
What you hearing is Jurgen Haible Living VCOs mixed and fed through a YuSynth Minimoog VCF filter controlled by the ADSR generator."
Laser Chaos
Published on Jul 25, 2013 pirxmodular·3 videos
"Chaotica is a third order analog chaos circuit with voltage control over many parameters, designed by Ian Fritz.
This video only scratches the surface of the circuit capabilities. I was manually tweaking the circuit parameters in order to generate various chaotic patterns. X-Y outputs of the circuit are connected to a DIY laser projector. The sound comes from the Chaotica Z output and is processed by Neural Agonizer spring reverb.
Beware of your speaker levels - the recording covers a wide frequency range."

Introvert Live (Glitched out) 8-24-2013

"Sorry for the audio drops and cutting in and out, I was sitting on the cable going to my recorder and I didn't realize it. I recorded the audio directly into my Zoom Q3HD and shot the video with the same recorder in the lowest video setting. I did the video glitching running the recorded video from the set through a circuit bent video machine that was moded by Big Pauper.
This was recorded live on August 24 2013 at 'The Bardstown' in Louisville Ky.
For free downloads of most of these songs please check out my soundcloud page.

Gear used in my set: 2 Elektron Octatracks, 2 Korg KP3 Kaoss Pads, 1 Analogue Solutions Vostok MK2, a Monorocket 9U Case that was totally filled, a Big Pauper Moded video glitch machine and a cheap DVD player."

Tree Apples - Live Track (Octatrack/Minitaur/SPACE/Virus TI)
Published on Aug 28, 2013 11brassmonkey11·14 videos
"I was playing around with the micro timing, swing and no quantising on the octatrack, came up with a kinda cool groove with the moog and drums. Then added a mashed up Alan Watts sample for a bit of fun. Figured might be worth sharing, although not as involved as my other stuff, still a bit of a 'bop' to it.
Enjoy :)"

Moog Music on the Creation of the One of a Kind Watercut Aluminum Voyager
"Hand-crafted in Asheville, NC, the Water Cut Aluminum Voyager is a testament to American craftsmanship. We visited with Andrew Hayes, the Asheville artisan responsible for creating this one-of-a-kind Moog synthesizer, and took the opportunity to talk with him about his trade..."

MIDI Turned 30 This Month - Featured in The Register

Great MIDI Birthday cake synth art by Dennis Irwin via this article on The Register. See if you can spot the synths. It appears the Sequential Circuits Prophet-600 & Roland JX-3P, the first synths to have MIDI and hooked up for the first time at Winter NAMM 1983 didn't get invited. Or maybe they are passed out in the other room. Regardless, it's a great picture. Dave Smith & Ikutaro Kakehashi received a 2013 Technical GRAMMY for MIDI as posted here. Click through for a pic from the 1983 NAMM floor.
via The Register: "The interface started off just living up to expectations and connecting devices together but later it became an enduring ecosystem. Not only did this network protocol deliver both real-time and non-real-time data transfers, it even notched up a platform-neutral file format.
Moreover, this 31.25kbd 10-bit, 16-channel network is still very much in use today, 30 years after its official 1.0 specification release in August 1983. They’ve been saying it all year and let’s say it again: Happy Birthday MIDI..."
The Register is running a massive feature on MIDI this month. The following links to each article.
Happy birthday MIDI 1.0: Getting pop stars wired for 30 years
Happy birthday MIDI 1.0: Slave to the rhythm
MIDI daddy Dave Smith: '30 years of version 1.0 shows we got it right'
MIDI was also celebrated at this year's NAMM in January as featured here with a panel discussion including Alan Parsons, Tom Oberheim, Dave Smith, Jordan Rudess, George Duke and Craig Anderton.

via Wikipedia on the Moog Sonic Six: "The Sonic Six is the result of Bill Waytena, then the owner of synthesizer manufacturer Musonics, acquiring R.A. Moog Inc. Interested in the marketing opportunity afforded by the Moog name, Waytena acquired R.A. Moog Inc., moved the company to Buffalo, New York, and renamed it Moog/Musonics (which eventually was shortened to simply Moog Music). It was under this new brand that a new version of the Musonics Sonic V was released as the Moog Music Sonic Six..."
