aleph breakfast

aleph breakfast from tehn on Vimeo.

no laptops involved.

aleph and grid. dual step sequencer running within bees, driving euro modular synth via cv, continuous and gates. audio from modular synth fed back into the aleph and processed by the lines delay module with filters and feedback.

the sequencer shows two timelines which can have their position and loop lengths cut dynamically, a sort of performance step sequencer. these are the top four rows, showing the playback position and loop length per timeline.

the bottom four rows are the data bits, or notes. some rows are mapped to triggers attached to the envelope generators via cv output.

aleph knobs are mapped to feedback, delay time, filter cutoff.

i see infinity in this tiny white box."

One Sunday - A Reconstruction

"Got up on Sunday, made a brew and played with my OP-1 and some new ipad apps :)

Made a track with the resulting audio on the afternoon and thought I would share that process with you in really basic overview of what I used.

Great instruments imo :)"

Update: Slither in the video is actually Sliver. Thanks goes to Tim of discchord for identifying it.

Hammond Auto-Vari 64 Analogue Drum Machine - World's Biggest Drum Machine?

"Made in 1974, this was Hammond's flagship analogue drum machine.

It is a large unit (probably the biggest drum machine I have ever seen) and it sounds amazing - this drum machine has quite a distinctive, solid and polished sound. The rhythms are preset, but the unique 'auto-vari' function adds a lot of flexibility to the beats. Also it is possible to select more than one rhythm at the same time for endless combination beats.

This drum machine is in very good original condition. It even includes the original smoked perspex music stand! It works perfectly and comes with a copy of the service manual."

"The Rota-Synth is a desktop 8-step analogue sequencer with CV/Gate Out, Midi sync, coupled with a monophonic, true analogue synthesizer. It does not use a keyboard like a conventional synth, but instead generates musical sequences and sound effects that you program in real time."

Sequential Circuits Drumtraks SN 05911

"This Drumtraks 400 is fully functional and is in very good condition. All of the drum sounds trigger, the MIDI works as does the cassette backup. The sound is classic 80's.

There are a few paint scrapes and one pushbutton (for the save to tape function) has been replaced with a non-original switch (see close-up.) The memory backup battery is good. All of the eproms appear to be original."

KORG MS-20 through Elkorus V3

"Messing with KORG MS-20 kit through Synthoma Elkorus V3 analog ensemble, TC D-Two and some other fx. The noise you hear comes from the BBD chips of Elkorus, when pumped up with compression. 7 patch cables in use this time."
