"Just back from an amazing shoot in San Francisco and to my wonderful surprise my Monome had arrived. I sampled 2 different melodies using 'The Party Van' by Rodrigo Constanzo http://www.rodrigoconstanzo.com/the-party-van/ (Such an amazing Max/MSP patch. When I can code like Rodrigo I will be very happy). The harmony on the OP1 is being delayed with the El Capistan and reverberated with the Big Sky. It is then processed in real time through the Cocolase inside TPV.

Monome, OP1, El Capistan and Bigsky

Frank Bretschneider experimenting with the Buchla Modular Synthesizer at EMS, Stockholm
Published on Oct 19, 2014 soundsofatiredcity
"Elektronmusikstudion (EMS) is the Swedish centre for electroacoustic music and sound art. The research organization started in 1964 and is based in Stockholm with six studios and a library consisting of a large collection of books about electronic music and sound art. EMS also organizes courses, various events and artist in residence activities. Between 14-27 July, EMS hosted Frank Bretschneider who – after working more than 20 years with digital sounds – was eager to submerge into the analog technology of the legendary Buchla and Serge modular synthesizers. On this occasion, we've talked to the co-founder of Raster-Noton to find out more about what is so special about these machines, and his current plans to shift from digital towards analog directions. Frank explains why computer sounds made such a big impression on him when he was younger, and strolling down memory lane he also shares his experiences with mono turning to stereo, raising the question what else is out there which could make such an enormous difference within the limits of perceptible sound.

nw2s::b SD patch loader
Published on Oct 19, 2014 Scott Wilson
"With firmware 1.1, the nw2s::b is able to prompt for a patch to load from the SD card when it boots up. Selection is made from 16 choices with the analog input and triggered with a digital input.
The current loader modes are still supported. This includes loading the default patch directly from the SD card and programming the patch directly into the firmware."
otogriddemo3nw2s::b and monome 64 otogrid generative 4-voice sequencer
Published on Oct 19, 2014 Scott Wilson
"For more information, see http://nw2s.net
This is a demo of the nw2s::b integrating with a monome grayscale 64 running a sketch that operates as a generative 4-voice sequencer similar to the earslap otomata.
The nw2s::b is acting as a USB host to the monome and it is generating an analog sequence controlling a couple of dixies, a Z3000, and a piston honda through a hexvca."

Social Synth D_08 Exhibit Featuring Giant Size Wall Controls for KORG Volcas & Circuit Bent Wurlitzer
via William Kennedy on The MATRIXSYNTH Lounge
"My friends and I turned a Volca Bass, Volca Keys, and circuit-bent Wurlizter organ drum machine into an Atlanta pubic art dumpster installation. Everything is fully interactive and functional! Open to the pubic in downtown Atlanta everyday until Oct 24th, 11am - 9pm."
via D_MPSTERS
"Two analog synthesizers and one analog drum machine will each cover one wall within the dumpster. The cartoonishly large controls for these devices will be operable by anyone who enters the dumpster, and several people can play any given wall at once. The strobing and sequenced LEDs of each instrument will be the only light within the dumpster, giving the room a space-age atmosphere. Each knob, touch pad, switch, or jack will affect some aspect of the sound or lighting, and participants will need to experiment with these controls to learn their functions. Visitors will need to learn from each other’s experiences and cooperate to unlock the full possibilities of their environment.
