Thomas Henry/Fonik X-4046 VCOs

via this auction

"For sale some Thomas Henry/Fonik X-4046 VCOs for Eurorack forma modular synth. I was asked to build several of these for a client who was unable to pay on project completion. For this reason it is being sold as new. These were racked only for testing and calibration, burned in and now ready to go. Really amazing sync and FM sounds, variable ramp output, tons of character all while tracking ~7 octaves.

Waveform outs: Pulse (PW w/sync), skew (variable saw), saw, sine and triangle
Sync input with attenuator
1/v/Oct response
FM (Linear and Exponential) w/attenuators. (AC/DC coupling for Exp input is available in the rear via a simple shunt.
Coarse and fine tune
PWM is voltage controllable with attenuator

Some specifics about this build and why this module is rather expensive.
• NXP 4046 chips
• Conductive plastic pots (increased rotational life)
• Alcoknob heavy phenolic knobs (plastic still on spun aluminum inlays. That's the little dimple you see on the pic)
• Dustcaps on all pots
• Screened cable on the outputs
• Upgraded capacitors
• Upgraded op-amp in CV section (LT1013)
• Countersunk panel screws
• Heat shrink on solder lug connections
• Shrouded polarized headers"

In the heart of never -- Kurzweil K1000 SE demo + Eventide Space ambient

Published on Jan 14, 2015 MIDERA

"Just a quick piece I wrote to demonstrate one of the sounds I
particularly enjoyed using the Kurzweil K1000SE. Mixed with the
Eventide Space, it sounds great... but that's true of anything going
through it. Hell, even not going through the Space it sounded great."

Korg Sigma quartertone

Published on Jan 14, 2015 baward

"Quick and dirty demo of the (surely rarely used) quarter tone option capability of the Korg Sigma. Switching the quarter tone tablet to 'on' and paying legato, rather than staccato, brings in the effect, as you can hear. Its not really explained in the owner's manual, so I had to figure it out for myself."

Interesting, quirky feature of the Korg Sigma.

Vicious Pink - 'Cccan't You See' (Fairlight effects) [1984]

Published on Jan 14, 2015 baward

"Tony Mansfield's treasure trove of Fairlight effects, from the second 12". The samples are all used in the song. Despite trying for a hit on 2 occasions, with 3 different 12 inch records worth of mixes, the record wasn't a commercial success (in the UK anyway.)"

Interesting bit of synth history. The following is the only video I could find featuring the original in Eglish. There are extended and French versions up on YouTube as well.
