"What does it do?

The MIDIWidget makes it easy to control real-world stuff using MIDI messages from your computer or MIDI controller.

You don't have to write any code. The MIDIWidget already understands MIDI note, CC, program change, and sync messages. Use the drop-down menus in the MIDIWidget Configurator app (Mac, Win) to specify an independent behavior for each of the MIDIWidget's 24 digital logic outputs.

What are the applications?

The MIDIWidget is the brain for all kinds of DIY projects:

Robotic musical instruments (Here is a circuit diagram for controlling solenoids or power relays using the MIDIWIdget.)
Guitar amp and effect loop switching
Light control or general-purpose relay control
Studio recording lights or other DAW status indicators
Triggering a modular synthesizer or other instrument that can be triggered with a digital logic signal"

"Today I hooked up my NEW Korg Electribe 2 with my Korg Volca keys, bass and Kaoss pad using step 7 & 8 on the electribe to send midi out to the volcas, turning the Electribe into an external sequencer.

Audio is fed into the Electribe from the Kaosspad 2 (using the Yoi You effect) on the volca keys and bass, then out of the electribe master straight into the camera (Canon EOS M with 22mm f/2 lens)

Completely lost track of time…..."

"British made. Only around 800 made in total (400 pre-MIDI, 400 post-MIDI). This is SN00008! Yes, the eighth one made. I bought it a long, long time ago (mid 90s) from a guy who either had something to do with the company, or possibly lived near it (it was originally made in 1983). I can't really remember much about the bloke now, but it's one of the first OSCars off the production line (well, production... hut)..."
