Delta [C64] - on Teenage Engineering PO-28, PO-14 & PO-16

Published on Feb 14, 2016 tubesockor

"Here I do yet another live performance of a Commodore 64 SID classic: Delta, by Rob Hubbard from 1987.

Three Teenage Engineering Pocket Operators are used:
* PO-28 Robot: main lead, blips and drums.
* PO-14 Sub: bass and extra percussion.
* PO-16 Factory: secondary lead.

Both leads are played live, but some special tricks had to be done in order to overcome the "fixed scale" of the PO's, in this song that actually uses two scales. The PO-16 runs a few patterns where some notes on certain occasions are raised a half step. That way the range gets much wider.

Due to the 16-pattern limit of the PO-14 and PO-16 I had to break up the mid part and cut the parts together. Everything is done live though, so it's totally playable."

"Dirty Machine" - Live modular synthesizer performance by POB (@obrienmedia)

Published on Feb 14, 2016 Patrick OBrien

"Here's a dirty jam I came up with over the weekend, limiting the performance to just a 6U case with nothing else running outside the box. This was performed live with no edits.

Patch highlights:
This short set was inspired after purchasing the Sound Machines LS1 lightstrip from Perfect Circuit Audio here in Los Angeles, CA. That module is featured front and center, using it to sweep the Ripples filter, which is running the overall mix.

I used every module in the case.

The clock is set by Mutable Instruments' Yarns, then divided out to various modules via the Delptronics Triggerman.

There are two kicks: one is from Mutable Instruments' Peaks, and the other is also from Peaks, but split off and sent through the Intellijel uFold II then through The Harvestman's Malgorithm and spit back out as a distorted WTF.

Snare sound is a sampled piano from the default sounds on the Bastl Instruments GrandPA -- of course it's all crushed from the effects from the module.

Some percussive effects are also coming from Noise Engineering's Basimilus Iteritas.

I use the Synthrotek MST CV/Mixer to turn off and on the kicks.

The two basslines from from The Harvestman's Hertz Donut and HARM on Braids, going through Audio Damage's Kompressor and LFOs from Intellijel's Quadra

The 6U case is from Dark Modular Cases.

No computers were used in this piece. All modular synths."

Firechild -The Drone

"The Drone is using sounds only from analog vintage synthesizers from the late 70s and early 80s. For the ultimate listening experience use good speakers with at least a 12 inch sub woofer. This track is NOT using any dynamics plugins or hardware compressors. No EQ , except a few low cut filters. Reverb and Delays are added in the mix. Performed and composed my www.firechild.se"
