DS Curve 1 Autophaser (w/ Afta8's Filter Bank)

Published on Feb 18, 2016 Bimini Road

Get Audulus for: iOS | Mac | Windows/Linux

This demo uses a guitar as the input signal, but we all know what Audulus is, and it's a good example of how you can not only build synths with Audulus, but effects, to process external gear.

"This is an Autophaser I made in Audulus with Afta8's Filter Bank. It is a cross between an autowah and a phaser. It does not need to use delay lines to accomplish the phasing effect, because the filtering that the phase delay causes is similar to what's happening in this patch.

The DS Curves 1 package crams in 8 different curves each with 4 pressure gradients. DS Curves can be used in really any effect - compressors, expanders, gates, filter frequency responses, tube distortion modelling, tremolos - really anything where just a boring old linear response ain't doin' it for ya.

Non-linear response is at the heart of why people say they prefer analog effects - now, with the DS Curve 1 package, you can truly begin your journey of modelling analog effects in Audulus.

The curves in this effect are metaphorically simulating the response of the optocoupler found in Autowahs/Phasers."

"AniModule and MPC1000 with the MIDI-CV hooked up as a Pad-Gate trigger. Live Modular Synth Percussion over Miniak Bassline + sprinkle a little sampled drums on top. A powerful way to integrate your Modular with your realtime Midi Rig instead of sampling and chopping a piece here and there. Realtime interfacing and interacting. Best thing was it was easy to set this patch up. Set it up in 20 minutes this afternoon.
Lot's of M1xXOR, XXX_OR, SOB, Lil' Monster and ShNoiZe in this patch."

Ableton Push 2, Roland TR-8, TAL Bassline and Reaktor Juno-6 demo by Jordan Passmore.

Published on Feb 18, 2016 Jordan Passmore

"This demo is of the Ableton Push 2 and Roland TR-8 hardware units, as well the Ableton Live DAW, hosting the following VSTs:

TAL-BassLine - A VST softsynth that is doing the bassline.
Native Instruments Reaktor 5 w/ Juno-6 Ensemble - A modular VST softsynth that is loaded with a Roland Juno-6 ensemble that is doing the melody sequence.
Valhalla DSP UberMod - A delay effect VST that the melody is being ran through.

Ableton Live is sequencing the two VST synths and sending MIDI clock (via USB) to the Roland TR-8. The TR-8 is sequenced via it's own built-in step sequencer. All of the instruments are being ran through my Ace Tone MP-40 mixer and then recorded via my audio interface.

The TR-8 is using the TR-808 kit and all of the drums are of the 808 variety (909 demo will be coming up soon). The kick drum is hitting the mixer hard, creating a subtle distortion that I find quite nice; getting something smooth or subtle is very possible when not overloading the mixer."
