Mutable Instruments Clouds - First Rough Test
Published on Feb 24, 2016 Genshi Media Group
"5 Minutes after unboxing, I did this rough test of the Mutable Instruments Clouds module. Still need to learn what all it can do, but so far I'm liking the "Instant Ambient" processing you can achieve with it. Now I'm just waiting for the MI Rings to arrive, and my little Make/Mutable Ambient Performance System will be complete (and then of course, I'll want to expand to another 3 rows of modules!) UPDATE: Shortly after doing this video, I updated Clouds with Parasite Firmware version 1.41. Here is a short video on Instagram of the results - https://instagram.com/p/BCMLm1DvMBQ/"
An Interview with Barry Schrader - Question 6A: "Trinity" Composed on a CalArts Buchla 200 System
6. How did technology over the years impact your music and creative process? Can you walk us through your albums and what the general process was like for each?
You'll find Barry's answer here. You do not want to miss this. Not only will you hear one of CalArts Buchla 200 systems in 1976, but you'll get some insight into the thought process behind the piece "Trinity".
"In exploring my compositions, I think it’s best to take a few works and deal with them one at a time. The first one I’ll consider is Trinity composed in 1976 using one of CalArts Buchla 200 systems. Beginning with Trinity, all of my pieces done using the Buchla 200 used the same basic patch" [pictured left]

Gieskes mechanical eurorack modules and a wire up remote control helicopter.
I'd include the specs here but apparently gieskes uses gifs for each letter on his descriptions. Really.

This is a brief experiment using a Buchla 216r pressure CV output to control some parameters of the Hordijk system, along with copious knob twiddling. I’m trying for the dramatic variety of timbre, shape, panning and dynamics found in the musique concrete pieces of the 1950s and 1960s."

ARP Odyssey (Korg), FunkBox Drum Machine iPad app and MIDIpal demo by Jordan Passmore
Published on Feb 24, 2016 Jordan Passmore
"This demo is of the ARP Odyssey (Kore reissue), FunkBox Drum Machine iPad app (Using the Yamaha RX11 sample set) and the Mutable Instruments MIDIpal.
The FunkBox drum machine app on the iPad Air 2 is the master clock and the iPad is connected to an iConnectMIDI2 MIDI interface. The iConnectMIDI2's MIDI out is connected to the Mutable Instruments MIDIpal which is running a sequencer app which is sequencing the ARP Odyssey via MIDI. The audio of the iPad and the ARP is running into my audio interface (Roland SuperUA) and summed inside of Ableton Live.
I am playing the keyboard while the sequencer is running to take advantage of the duophonic nature of the ARP; when I do this, one oscillator is following the sequence while the other is responding to the CV of the keyboard. When I stop playing the keyboard, both oscillators continue to follow the sequence."
