Jingle Matrix
Published on Dec 24, 2016 minijack
"Exploring the origins of Jingle Bells: the song comes from an ancient tradition of chiptune music and embedded audio chips.
We offer our thanks to Silicon Santa and hope for a Christmas full of warm noise and harsh harmonics.
It's a chiptune holyday!
Merry Christmas! And Merry Synthmas!
Interested in a Matrix Mixer to decorate your Christmas tree?
I make units on demand, and I am open to customization. You need a 10x10 matrix with 5 aux outputs, an embedded cross-over and an envelope follower to pilot eurorack system? I can do it. Just ask :)
All my mixers are ACTIVE! Buffered and available with gains up to 50 (30dB) without distortion.
minijackaudio@gmail.com for inquiries.
Here you can have a look at some mixers and the making process https://www.flickr.com/photos/noizhar...
All videos are shot with a Canon 5dMkII and a 16mm Zenith fisheye lens."
Update: How it was made:
Sequencing modular synth with a computer: the envelope follower
Published on Dec 29, 2016
"In this video I'm explaining how the Christmas video was made.
I'm using an envelope follower, followed by a 10x voltage amplifier, bringing audio levels to CV levels.
Then I used Pure Data (https://puredata.info/) to create a sequencer that is actually sequencing the amplitude of a simple 10khz sinewave.
The envelope follower converts different audio volumes to different DC voltages, then they are amplified by a factor of 10 and can be fed to anything eurorack!
I'm then mangling with the matrix mixer, routing both audio and CV around the main oscillator, a Big Muff Pi overdrive and a Crybaby Wah.
Yes! My matrix mixers are ACTIVE and can seamlessly manage audio and CV, all without distortion.
I'd like to release an eurorack module with additional features, like max and min, a mic preamp, a gate out with threshold, and so on! If you would like to see a particular feature in an envelope follower, just ask!

Noise Reap Bermuda Eurorack VCO Demo
Published on Dec 23, 2016 FatSynthDude
"I made this one with the focus being on the pair of Noise Reap Bermuda's I received today. These are fairly simple triangle-core oscillators with triangle, sine, and pulse wave outputs. What makes them different from other VCO's is that there's a control onboard to route the triangle wave back into the core. It's a simple trick that a lot of oscillators can do already with some self-patching, but it's neat that it's a built-in modulation here with a built-in attenuator. For those that have never tried feeding an oscillator back into itself, this results in distortions in the waveform. It's a trick that a lot of people forget exists, so it's handy to have a dedicated knob for it. The other special feature is the price. These are only $65 each. In my brief experience with them so far, they're fairly stable and track CV very well. I haven't done a side-by-side comparison to my other oscillators yet, but it will be interesting to see how they compete against the more expensive ones. Regardless of how well they compare, I'd say they're worth the phenomenally low price.
So for this composition, the Bermudas handle the bass synth and the lead synth. The Bassier one is ran through the 4075 and the lead goes through the Polivoks filter.

Kraftwerk 'The Robots' (Ed Zuccollo talkbox cover)

"Talkbox cover of The Robots by Kraftwerk.
Music video production, props, costumes, filming and editing done by the wonderful folks at Renegade Peach Project. All props and shots made in one day.
All synths (Minimoog, MS-20), talkbox, drum programming, production, mixing and mastering by Ed Zuccollo 2014.

And what you are hearing:
"The Minimoog is the acid bass (I chopped each note manually to get it techno-tight), the lead motif, all the pads EXCEPT the robot speak breakdowns (Ja tvoi sluga, Ja tvoi Rabotnik robotnik) where all the synth sounds are made with the MS-20. Also the long bass in the last section (nobody owns me, nobody sells me) is MS-20. I use the MS-20 for the talkbox, because it has a high pass filter which allows me to clear up the tone of the talkbox a lot, removing frequencies that can't be reproduced by the driver in it anyway."
