Alesis Ion Keyboard Synthesizer

via this auction

"The Ion has 8-voice polyphony with 3 oscillators per voice, and is 4-part multi-timbral. It offers continuously variable wave shapes (sine waves can morph into square waves), plus osc-sync and FM synthesis. 16 filter types are included, along with two LFOs, Sample & Hold, and an Arpeggiator-all of which sync to MIDI clock. A powerful and intuitive modulation matrix is built in, as well as a 40-band vocoder that does not use up any polyphony. External stereo audio can be processed through the filters, effects, or the vocoder. A 160x160 graphic display provides instant visual feedback as a parameter is edited. Along with having 512 patch settings (all user-rewritable), the Ion has 64 multi-timbral setups. All parameters including arpeggiator settings are stored with each preset. The ION keyboard contains 49 velocity-sensitive keys, 4 analog outputs and 2 stereo analog inputs (all balanced and using 24-bit conversion), 4 individual insert effects, a stereo master multi-FX processor, and an internal universal power supply. Expression and sustain pedal ports as well as headphone jacks are also there. For those who want a versatile synth and can't afford the A6, this is the synth for you - arguably one of the best 'virtual-analog' synths for awesome, analogue-like sounds."

Tho things I wish Alesis included on the Ion were aftertouch and speed sensitive knobs. The resolution for filter cutoff is high, so it takes a few turns of the knob to fully open it up. It's a great sounding VA with three full oscillators.

modular and piano ambient session (Mutable instruments rings, 2hp TM + reface CP)

"If you like my stuff please support me on http://music.ollilab.com/ and https://www.patreon.com/theBURG

This ambient track is about chance, the 2hp TM is strumming the MI rings module on a random basis, and I wanted the modular system to decide the tempo and mood of the track. So what I am doing here is simply following the cues from the Turing Machine when its triggering, my brain is literally being controlled by the random strokes and strums you are hearing.

Machine controlling man, it is so beautiful.

Current rack: https://www.modulargrid.net/e/racks/view/445007

Modular: MI rings, sound source, LFO on brightness and damping. Penrose is quantizing MI rings notes coming in from the peaks, which is in LFO mode, and with a messy curve so sort of unpredictable. One rings channel goes into audio I/O the other through the morphagene for some glitchy time lag randomness.

I am as You can see controlling Penrose quantizer manually at times doing simple root note key changes... but other than that the melodies and tempo are completely random.

maths is the acting clock for this piece

Reface CP gets some processing from the catalinbread csidman and Strymon big-sky (not in picture). Transmisser, space spiral, and caverns for the modular.

Enjoy! BoooM!"

CASIO CZ-101 Digital Phase Distortion Synthesizer

via this auction

"This is a very nice, vintage 1980's Casio CZ-101 keyboard, a cool, smaller version of the Casio CZ-1000/CZ-3000. The keyboard is in great condition electronically with normal usage scuffs.

Used by many famous bands (Erasure, Radiohead among others), it is a digital synth with great programming capabilities and a nice variety of analog-like traits and sounds. It is equipped with a 8-stage envelope design.

It uses Phase Distortion (PD) synthesis for the great sounds, similar to the Yamaha DX synthesizers. It also has four types of vibrato settings, a simple LFO-type section with triangle, square, ramp up or down waveforms as well as rate, depth and delay settings. Four Portamento adds classic glide effect.

It has oscillators with 4-note polyphony, a built-in noise and ring modulation and is MIDI equipped with 4 monophonic multitimbral parts.

You can create lots of new sounds, notably percussive sounds. Great for standard stage/studio work, the synth is very cool strapped as a guitar (it is also battery operated) for a stand-up stage performances.

The synth is in excellent working condition with all keys and functions operating correctly.

Sorry, my niece model and the strap do not come with the synth. :( :( "

Audio Damage Phosphor 2 - alphaSyntauri Based iPad Synth Now Available

Now available on iTunes.

You can find two video demos of Audio Damage's Phosphor 2 just posted here.

Details follow:

"Phosphor is an unique instrument modeled on the alphaSyntauri, a vintage digital additive synth from the early 80s. The original alphaSyntauri required an Apple //e to operate, but we've gone ahead and eliminated the middle-man, and now you can have this classic digital synth in your iOS device, no 5.25" floppy drive necessary!

Featuring two additive oscillators (with the original 16 partial complement of the alphaSyntauri, or optionally with 32 or 64 partials), each with its own amp envelope, Phosphor's topology closely follows the alphaSyntauri, while adding many modern features such as full velocity control, a much more extensive modulation routing system, tempo synced LFOs, a pair of delays, and two monophonic modes. The noise and oscillators are able to work in the original alphaSyntauri "low-resolution" modes, or can be run in modern high-resolutions. Phosphor can accurately model the original sounds of the alphaSyntauri, yet still provide new paths for sonic exploration.

Features

• Two complete oscillator/envelope sections modeled on the original topology of the alphaSyntauri.

• Each set of partials can run in "lo-fi" mode, emulating the gritty digital voicing of original, or in a modern mode for alias-free sines.

• The noise can be either "lo-fi" digital shift-register noise per the original, or modern white noise.

• Two complete delay sections with LP/HP filtering and cross-feedback.

• Two tempo-syncable LFOs with multiple modulation destinations.

• A large complement of presets included that show off the extensive sound generating capabilities of Phosphor, including some famous alphaSyntauri presets directly ported from the original.

• XML preset system, with copy-to-clipboard, for sharing presets in forums and with your friends.

• AudioUnits V3 version for use in all AUv3 hosts, like AudioBus 3, AUM, BeatMaker 3, Cubasis 2, GarageBand, etc.

• Standalone version (with full single-panel UI) with Inter-App Audio and BlueTooth MIDI capability.

• iPhone version coming soon!"
