Patch: Controlling Voltage Documentary Series

"This documentary focuses on the rapidly growing Modular Synthesis movement and the diverse group of artists using these machines to create soundscapes of emotionally charged content, as well manufacturers who are pushing the boundaries of sonic platforms with their creations. Our story presents to the public the emergence of thriving brick and mortar stores, intimate and attentive live venue performances, and the modular-driven compositions that are rapidly transforming the soundtracks of modern film and network productions. Capturing the creative process from patch to pulse will be the foundation of the film."

Mr Woofer - Synth Demos

Published on Oct 6, 2017 Mr Woofer

Playlist:

1. Mr Woofer - Enter Space (Atari STE Demo)
"Enter Space!" says Sinclair Spectrum ZX through its Currah uSpeech synthesizer. The Atari STE and its Yamaha YM2149F chip in all its square wave glory does exactly that. The tools used to control the STE are NSQ (Near Synthesizer Quality), Chip Synth and MaxYMiser.

The powerful beats are coming from NI Massive except for the Hi-hats and noise bursts which are also Atari STE. As usual external reverb and delay are added. Hope you enjoy it!

Music and Sound Design by Mr Woofer (Konstantinos Kampanis).
Original footage and video editing by Mr Woofer.

Enjoy!

"A RARE, INTERESTING SYNTH, BUILT BY LZX IN 2008. BASED ON THE MFOS SOUND LAB PLUS, THIS TWO OSCILLATOR (OSC A IS SAW ONLY, WHILE OSC B HAS SAW AND SQUARE OUTPUTS, WITH PWM FOR THE SQUARE OUT!) MONOSYNTH FEATURES A WILD LP/BP FILTER, WHITE NOISE, ONE LFO (SWITCHABLE FROM SQUARE/RAMP/SAW/TRIANGLE) AND A CYCLABLE ENVELOPE. ALSO FEATURES SEVERAL CV INS/OUTS ON THE TOP, ALONG WITH AN AUX INPUT. ALL PLACED IN A CLASSY, GIGANTIC HAND-SCREENED ENCLOSURE WITH A 37 KEY KEYBOARD (ALLGEDLY FROM A CANNIBALIZED WURLITZER ORGAN). AN EARLY PROJECT OF A NOW WELL-RENOWNED GIANT OF VIDEO SYNTHESIS, ONE OF THREE THAT EVER MADE. PERFECT FOR SOMEONE WANTING A MONOSYNTH THAT'S QUITE OUT OF THE ORDINARY. PERFECT FOR THE NOISY EXPERIMENTAL TYPE INSIDE OF US ALL."

Mr Woofer - Additive Addictive (Kawai K5000R Demo)

"All sounds on this synth demo, including the drums are coming from the Kawai K5000R advanced additive synthesizer. The K5000R is the rackmount version of the unique Kawai K5000 Advanced additive Synthesizer.

The original macro controller is very rare these days but thankfully all its parameters can be controlled by MIDI CC messages. I use my NI Komplete Kontrol S61 to control the K5000R in real time.

Enjoy!"

Note the date of the video is 2012, so likely not the same one.

"Rare rack version of the Kawai K5000 additive synth. The unit is in excellent condition, floppy drive works. Only minor marks by the rack screw holes. 110v. Truly one of the most unique synths to come out in the mid 1990s. Huge shimmery sounds."

60 Knobs Meets 60 Jacks - Million Machine March's Take on Bastl Instruments' 60Knobs

Check out the MATRIX-12V controller below.

via Million Machine March

"Stop me if you have been here… …You have been patching your modular synth for a while and then you get a thought of “I wish I could use this modulation source to control one of my other midi synth’s!” Or what about a ‘deep’ guitar pedal that has a MIDI input and can be controlled via MIDI CC? How about wanting to use many CV sources to control many MIDI CC’s or NRPN’s or even SysEx… …with a stand alone box? Or, how do I easily record all of these CV signals into my DAW so I can use them in MIDI tracks too?

Bastl released their 60 Knobs project last year and made it open source! I immediately saw lots of potential and decided to see what I could come up with."

You can find additional skins, including one for the CS80V, at Million Machine March.
