Bastl Softpop on Drums - Freakiest Noise Box Ever?

Published on Apr 3, 2018 Kablehead

"Finally i got my hands on the wonderfully crazy Softpop from Casper Electronics & Bastl Instruments.
Before i got it i wondered how it would sound on drums. There are short demos of it showing that but i wanted to hear more.
So this is my first video with the Softpop filtering and crunching up some drums from the Volca Beats.

The Softpop can be used as a standalone synthesizer/noise box or as an effect unit processing external signals.
It has a lot of character with a mind of it's own. The filter is very liquid sounding and the circuit can produce crunchy distortion too.
With the patchbay you have a lot of possibilities to route the signal in different directions.

This is definitely one of my favorite sound boxes. It's so easy to play with it and explore all kinds of sounds.

Henning Baer showcases his setup (EB.TV Tech Talk)

Published on Apr 3, 2018 Telekom Electronic Beats

"Henning Baer is now a permanent fixture in Berlin techno, as a founding member of the Grounded Theory collective and here speaks of how his studio facilitates his creativity in the latest 'Tech Talk' on Telekom Electronic Beats TV. Whether it’s using his Elektron Octatrack as a hub to synchronise his gear, or deploying his E-RM Multiclock for linking up his midi elements, Baer shows how a 'flexible and tight' producing environment removes the barriers to creativity."

SOLARIS (John Bowen) Synthesizer - 100 Brian Kehew Presets

Published on Apr 2, 2018 OFR

"Here is a quick demo of the 100 custom sounds I programmed for John Bowen's amazing synthesizer, the Solaris. It's a fascinating system, a brilliant design with astounding sonics (although YouTube audio won't represent the full audio quality.)

I was finding so many people were doing 80s analog-synth type sounds (which are common elsewhere already) so I wanted to show a wider range of the possibilities it offers. I still don't understand all of what the Solaris can do - I'm still learning it - so there is more to come for sure. There are NO samples used, just pure synthesis modes. Enjoy!

** Thanks to Curt Anderson for the camerawork and Todd Lampe for editing..."

Update: For the month of April, John Bowen Synth Design is offering a $500 discount on the Solaris. You can find details here.
