Best Ambient Synth Shootout #55: Roland M-VS1 - Song 1
Published on Sep 19, 2018 Christian's Sonic Spaces
"This is the first song with the Roland M-VS1. It's a 28 voice 8-part multitimbral ROMpler from the mid-90s with a focus on vintage synths.
I used for the recording the following FX chain:
Roland M-VS1 - Alesis Ampliton - Alesis Philtre - Pigtronix Echolution 2 Deluxe - GFI System Specular Reverb 2. Depending on the recorded track some FX are deactivated
The signal went through a small Behringer mixer into the pc for recording. To create the complete song I recorded consecutively several stereo tracks. The final song was then mastered with a bit EQ and compression on some tracks and some limiting on the master track.
Well, I decided to go back to the basics, but at the same time make something useful for the synth community and do a kind of competition (I like competitions;-). What's my best synth for ambient music :-)"
Can I use the microKORG as a FUZZ pedal? OH YEAH!

"I experimented with pushing my amp into fuzzy distortion with microKORG synthesizer. I hope this video helps you accomplish beautiful and crushing new tones. These textures and drones can hold their own for recording or add to your overall composition.
Signal chain:
Fender HM Strat
Strymon Timeline
DOD Bifet FX10
Korg microKORG

"MuMidi HubLink provides a means for Musicians to connect USB-MIDI devices together. Typically, this might be a sound generator device (such as a synth) and a controller, such as a keyboard or similar. Its rugged yet stylish design makes it suitable for desktop, studio and stage use.
By also providing power over USB to bus-powered USB-MIDI Devices, MuMidi HubLink can remove the need for copious power connections in a MIDI setup."

"Acidlab M303 Complete TB-303 Voice - Eurorack Modular Synthesizer
Oscillator: Waveform is selectable between square and sawtooth. Tuning control for setting the frequency. 1V/octave CV input for controlling the frequency. VCO-CV with attenuator (VCO Mod control). Input for de-/activating the silde function. Oscillator output.
Filter:303 low pass filter with controls for cutoff and resonance. The cutoff can be modulated with the VCF-CV input with the VCF-Mod control as attenuator.. Besides that the filter features a env-mod control for setting the envelope´s cutoff modulation depth. An audio input allows for filtering external audio material.
Envelope: manually controlled Decay-Envelope with gate input and envelope output.
VCA: internally modulated by the envelope, but alternatively it can work in gate mode. Separate VCA audio input. The accent input allows for setting accents with a CV/trigger.
The level of the audio signal at the OUT socket can be adjusted with the volume control.
