BURG1k Synth Kit Setup - Session Five (volca, monologue, drumbrute impact)

#BURG1K session 5 - #KORGmonologue #DrumBruteImpact #volca - upbeat and groovy, with some looper action through the monologue.

Adding the KORG monologue to the BURG1K setup really lifts it to the next level, the sequencer with the built in automation and parameter locks is really versatile.

I wanted to showcase on this track some sequencer automation while using the 720 stereo looper to play back pre recorded KORG volca key drones through external audio in on the monologue. This adds some extra sound design capabilities to any synth out there with ext audio in.. just pre record anything into the looper and have that playback over the sequence, pretty cool!

Automation used in the monologue:

- VCO2 octave, toggle
- VCO2 waveform, toggle
- ENV decay (subtle movements)

Adding to this i also use one LFO to control the filter in the monologue, the LFO is running free.

I hope you like this one, BoooM!

Gear used

- KORG volca keys
- Arturia Drumbrute Impact
- KORG Monologue
- 2x Zoom MS-70 CDR FX pedals
- Behringer 1002B mixer
- EHX 720 Stereo Looper
- 2 track Recorder, Zoom H5

Ipad Synth or Original: IVCS3 compared to EMS Synthi AKS

Published on Dec 13, 2018 studentsmusic

"Some additional Infos: excerpts from trying to get objective data comparing an app with the original synthesizer. Don´t take it for granted, especially comparing waveforms here in such a short feature. So probably with mistakes, but somehow the tendency: the app is quite good! One core challenge that should be done better is comparing the filters, which might behave different in every hardware device and are one important character of the ems synths.
Interesting: Sine (sorry for german/latin "sinus") wave on AKS AND IVCS is not pure and has quite some harmonic distortion (due to Wave shaper?). Normally around 5%THD. The sine of the self oscillating Filter should be around 3% THD. Here its more, but somehow congruent analog and digital!
Of course there can be endless discussions comparing virtual with analog vintage. We all know its two different Animals. But as it comes to sound and hearing this might be a trigger for you to check by yourself, whats cooking with your hardware/app gear. Believing is not knowing."

System 102 expander (serial number 701801)
System 103 mixing amplifier (serial number 601030)
System 104 sequencer (serial number 621231
System 109 speaker pair (serial number 531258 & 531309)

The system 101, 102 and 103 are recently been serviced. The service reports and invoices are included in the sale. The synthesizer is in perfect working condition.

We also include some original documentation:

Cosmetically the modules are in good condition for their age. The mixer has a big scratch on the front panel and the 101 has some minor scratches around the screws on the front panel, there's a sticker on the front of the 102. Please check all the photos for an impression of the condition.

All modules are original European delivered 220v versions, so with European plug installed."

"This ultra-rare Korg PS-3100 has been completely rebuilt and serviced by Ken Rich in LA. The wood case is completely rebuilt. This PS-3100 is in great condition.

The PS-3100 Analogue Synthesiser has monstrous polyphony - one built-in VCO, VCF, VCA, and EG for each of the keys on the keyboard for a total of 48 synthesizer circuits and polyphony! The PS-3100 has a rich sound despite its single VCO (triangle, saw, square waves, plus PWM) and its LPF is warmer than the MS synths. The Resonator (3 bandpass filters) can create formants and phase effects. LFO1 has a range up to 1khz, multiple wave forms, and can create FM effects using AM, which is continuously variable right up to Ring Modulation. There are 2 EGs - one polyphonically affects the VCA and LPF, the other (General Envelope Generator) is universal and paraphonic. The GEG can also be widely used as a modulation source. It has12 scaling controls for non equal-tempered intonation. There is an Ensemble for 70s style string patches and an extensive patchbay. The PS-3100 is huge, weighs 30kg and Korg made only 600."
