Mellotron M4000D - Card 02

John L Rice

"These are the sounds available on the Mellotron M4000D expansion card number 2, which will work in the original full sized M4000D, the Mini M4000D, and the M4000D Rack. (expansion cards are not compatible with the Mellotron Micro). I made this video so people that are interested in purchasing the card can get a general idea of what's on it.

INDEX:
0:00 Introduction with accordion
1:00 Wind instruments
5:05 Artist sound effects *
10:08 Wine Glasses
10:58 Keyboard instruments
14:45 Orchestral percussion
18:04 Spanish guitar
18:35 Accompaniments
31:17 Strings
34:27 Voices

* two years ago (August 2018) another person posted detailed videos of the artist sound effects collections, which is why I didn't take the time to clearly demonstrate them here: https://www.youtube.com/user/troubles...

On this card there are individual sounds that can be played "normally" (solos and chords as on a piano or organ etc) and then there are sounds that are to be played one key at a time because they are either predefined chords or an accompaniment section. Accompaniments might be a single instrument like guitar or an entire band. There are also keys that that have percussion parts, sound effects, and melodic full band fills for intros and outros.

Motor Synth - a brief look at the synth engine

Floyd Steinberg

"Here's a short look at the Motor Synth's engine as it is at the moment (this is a prerelease machine and some features will be added in future firmware updates). This video doesn't show all the features available, but I think it's fairly good impression on what's possible. If you want to know specific things, please post them in the comments and I'll feature them in upcoming videos.

"Good overall physical condition. Powers on. It displayes track one when powered on-I cannot get it to move to a different track, however, that may be entirely user error as I have no idea how it works.... In a moronic moment, I knocked off a key while cleaning (see pic)-The key is included. A steady hand and some super glue can likely remedy it."

I'd be careful attempting to glue it. I'd likely just rest it back in there.

Komo rebit // OP-1 ambient sketch

Stefano Mattia

"Here's another OP-1 (dark?) ambient sketch. I've always been strangely attracted to odd time signatures so I made this one in 7/4.
After playing with the OP-1 for a few days, I now understand what people were talking about when they claimed it was extremely easy to come up with ideas on the OP-1: I wrote all parts for this track in maybe less than one hour. I then exported the tape tracks to Logic and built a simple arrangement, added effects and automation, and some mixing/mastering.
All synth and drum sounds are stock OP-1 sounds though, except for the vocals, which I sampled from YouTube into the OP-1.
Enjoy!"

Sequential Artist Spotlight Interview with FLEMMING CHR. HANSEN

You can find the interview on Sequential's website here.

"Flemming Chr. Hansen, born 1968, is a Danish composer, organist and improviser in the field of contemporary music. He has mainly written music for pipe organ, choir, and various chamber music ensembles. He also improvises with the ensemble Breakable, and performs ambient music concerts using a Prophet XL synthesizer. Flemming has released four CDs of his own organ music, recorded on the digital Allen organ in the church of Sakskobing, where he is organist and choir master.

We chatted with Flemming on how he uses the Prophet XL in his music."

Pianos Off -CALC- Novation SLMK3 with User chord-bank hack.

-CALC-

Recorded live Friday 14th August 2020.
Recording notes:
SL MKIII is sending clock to everything and controlling, Octatrack and Blooper.
Piano chords pre-programmed on the SL pads, with the sequencer part muted it becomes a User-chord bank.
SL MK3 keyboard set to a single zone to play (mainly) the Rhodes improv.
0-Coast - bass
Morphagene - droning chimey stuff
Stereo Dipole - medium speed LFO filter pinging
Summit - two arps set with different rhythms on two separate parts on left/right side.
Octatrack - Drums (main beat)
piano - Spitfire Cinematic Felt Piano
Yamaha CP Rhodes 1 sound bit of reverb.

Off the cuff recording of studio performance with vid, one shot video's a bit boring, especially with a lot of synthy stuff out of shot to the side. But I thought the track was alright. Could be worth listening to without the video as well.
