Hélène Vogelsinger: "Whales Patch"

video upload by MAKEN0ISE

"We are proud to share Hélène Vogelsinger's "Whales Patch," her contribution to Sarah Belle Reid's Imaginative Listening Project.

The Imaginative Listening Project was an experimental collaboration between Sarah Belle Reid, Hainbach, Hélène Vogelsinger, and Tim Held in which they co-created a new piece of music. It premiered on April 29, 2021 on Sarah's YouTube channel and has been a favorite of ours since.

Each artist utilized Strega in their composition, and its unique character and voicing shines throughout the project. [see below for the complete Imaginative Listening Project video]

Scream Patch Tutorial

video upload by Peter Speer

"A 'Scream Synthesis' patch technique, utilizing audio-rate FM and feedback.

Audio begins at the 1 minute mark. It's scary stuff. Heads up.

This video was originally filmed and posted to Vimeo in 2013, and is being re-posted here for ease of sharing.

The patch was inspired by a post Grant Richter made on the MW forum about the Malekko Anti-Oscillator's FM normalizations alongside that module's release in 2009, specifically the quote:

'When you feed back the output to the input of most any circuit, you form chaotic functions. Chaotic functions usually 'bifircate', that is split in two. The places where the chaos is momentarily stable are called 'attractors', when you hear frequency warbling or jumping, strange instabilities, it is switching between attractors at an audible rate, this is very common in nature, so if you hear any wounded animal sounds or scarier things, we are just copying the math from mother nature.'

Recording Modor Dr-2 Digital Drum Machine for a Techno Remix

video upload by Sound Provider

"Just quick video here when I was recording the Modor Dr-2 DrumMachine for a remix I m working on for Komfortrauschen.
I add a solo part with the Drum machine only at the end of the video.
Fun fact , I used on of a Snare algorithm to do the Kick Sound
For info it s an half mix version so I use compressor, eq and little bit of reverb on the Drum."

"Forgive my way of playing...really i don't have any technique! The video was made quickly just to demonstrate the functionality of the Syntorchestra. Until about minute 5 the sound is taken directly from the amplifier (through a d.i.), then I tried some external effects."

"Overhauled in 2020: all old electrolytic and tantalum (more than 100 in total) capacitors have been replaced. Only the output impedance selector (on the back of the instrument) doesn't work so it has been bypassed by opting for a common use impedance."
