A Note on YouTube Video Thumbnails

It appears YouTube is not autogenerating thumbnails for video embeds. If you see a blank/grey video, just hit the red play button or anywhere in the player and the video should start playing. If you are a content creator you should be able to select a default thumbnail after uploading your video to prevent this from occuring.

Sequential Prophet REV 2 - Sound Bank '79

video upload by Polydata

"Drawing from the earliest days of polyphonic synthesizers, Sound Bank ‘79 for the Dave Smith Instruments / Sequential Prophet Rev 2 finds its inspiration in synthesizer music found in documentaries and library music from the late 70’s and early 80’s.

40 patches for instant inspiration. Sound Bank '79 is a series of vintage tones for different synths and plug-ins, so look out for future releases. Recorded completely dry with no external effects or processing.

Eventide Misha Sequencer Overview and Thoughts

video upload by Patchwerks

"In this video Nick from Patchwerks demonstrates the new Eventide Misha sequencer and shares his thoughts.

Learn more about the Eventride Misha here: https://bit.ly/eventide_misha

Misha is an innovative Eurorack instrument/sequencer that utilizes a unique, interval-based approach to playing and creating melodies. It’s designed to be played like a keyboard instrument and yet it makes music in a way unlike any instrument before it. In addition to playing it live, you can also record sequences that can be modified in a multitude of ways, allowing for new paths of spontaneous creativity.

MRG FILTRONE

video upload by MRG Synthesizers

"The previous videos in this channel have all been affected by some issue in digitalization that created some click/pop sounds. In this video I changed set up, so you get to have better audio quality in exchange to a mad webcam autofocus.

This is a very simple patch: a square wave with triangular LFO PWM is fed to the filter. Cutoff CV is controlled by an ADSR. The filter goes directly to out. No external effect used.

Modules used: MRG LFOs, MRG ADSR, MRG VCO, MRG FILTRONE, ALM HPO. Sequenced by Korg SQ1."

The MRG FILTRONE is a versatile voltage controlled low pass filter.

The resonance can be increased up to loud self-oscillation, and the module features 1V/O cutoff tracking.

Apart from the usual controls for manual and CV-controlled cutoff and resonance, offers two special features: SLOPE switch and TONE control.

1. SLOPE Switch

The big rocker switch under the cutoff allows the filter to change its slope from 18dB to 24dB.

2. TONE Control

This is a defining feature of the module, and an original one to the best of my knowledge.

In 24dB mode, the tone control blends the output of the second stage (12dB slope) and the output of the fourth stage (24dB slope).

In 18dB mode, the tone control blends the output of the first stage (6dB slope) with the output of the third stage (18dB slope).

Practically speaking, this allows to maintain the cutoff stable, but gently increasing harmonics.

The tone control, that allows to dynamically change the slope of the filter, together with the 1V/O tracked self-oscillation, makes this a filter apt to exploration and can produce many different (and sometimes unexpected) sounds, despite the overall simplicity of the module.

The filter, like all other MRG filters, are rich in low frequencies, and can be setup (with low cutoff, high resonance and short A/R in the CV cutoff) to generate powerful kick-like sound.
