Ambient Explorations pt.37 (Instruō Cruïnn)

video upload by Piotr Garbaczonek

"Thanks for watching! #modular #eurorack #ambient
In this episode of 'Ambient Explorations', I am using the recently-released Instruo Cruinn, which is a wonderfully sounding stereo through-zero phase modulated oscillator. All the stereo elements that repeat over time, which are sawtooth waves, are coming from this module, in case you wanted to know what it sounds like. It is being supported by its fellow family members: Instruo Arbhar for stereo granular elements; Instruo Lubadh, which is receiving the summing output from Cruinn, and slowing down or speeding up randomly by being modulated by Instruo/Divkid øchd; Instruo CS-L, which is going through Mutable Instruments Clouds to create a nice yet weird background texture (it sounds like people playing violins in the higher register); and Instruo Lion which is taking care of most of the modulation routings within the system.

HUE (No Talking) DEMO

video upload by Modbap Modular

"HUE is an audio color and textural processing effect, in 6hp eurorack format. Hue is comprised of a chain of 5 effects (Drive, Filter, Tape Saturation, LoFi, Compressor). Each effect imparts a particular coloration, tone, distortion, and/or texture to the source audio. With HUE, Drums bang with more intensity & melodies morph into lush LoFi tones."

"A desktop tone generator module with a 16-step sequencer and an evolved version of the six-operator FM tone generator used in the DX7. This single unit allows the user to program loop patterns that combine metallic, dynamically changing FM sounds with AWM2 rhythm tracks. Featuring free EG functionality along with an intuitive user interface that stresses real-time operation, the DX200 was used in a wide range of cutting-edge sound crafting applications from loop-based music production to expansion tone generators for keyboard players."

"This is a brilliant 303 killing Future Retro 777 - very rare. Excellent condition with power supply as originally purchased from another owner many years ago.

The Future Retro 777 is a monophonic analog synthesizer with a digital sequencer. It employs analog circuitry and has a lot of hands-on knobs for instant sound tweaking. Please look online for further descriptions of this now classic legendary unit.

Only single blemish is one of the feet is missing - refer picture."

Patching in Sines

video upload by boxoftextures

"Sines, a new synthesizer from Cherry Audio. They're on a serious roll this year with new stuff! At first glance there's a billion controls and it seems like you'll never figure it out, but once you spend a few minutes with it things turn out to make a lot of sense. You have four oscillators, four LFOs, four envelope generators, and four slots in the modulation matrix. That last one may seem like an oddly small number but almost every control has its own mod routing, so in a way those four are like a few bonus extra ones.

The oscillators are, well, unique. For one, there's no waveshapes to choose from, it's all and only sine waves. Which seems odd at first! But like the mod matrix, you have a lot of controls to mess with the sines and create all kinds of different tones. It only took a few minutes of knob twiddling to see how it worked, and there's lots of possibility in the design. With all the modulation and tone shaping you can do I found that most of my early patches used only one oscillator. They just sound that rich. One of the patches in the video uses three of them, and I almost had to force myself to do that. And in fact, I'm planning on going back into that one and splitting it up, using the first two oscillators in a new patch and the third one in another.

So bottom line is that at first glance everything about Sines is just weird. Which is true! But it all makes sense and is really well designed, and the sound design possibilities are pretty deep.

As always, all patches are mine, and the end theme under the credits is two of the patches from the video over top of the drone I always use in my opening titles (which I made sometime in the distant past)."

Generative Ambient/IDM with Bitwig 4.3.9 and Spectral Suite

video upload by DATABROTH

"Hi, I finally updated Bitwig, and also picked up the Spectral Suite. Lots of new devices to play with including ricochet and note grid, also new effects I haven't had a chance to use.
I have written two articles on the add ons

SUNDAY GLITCH (Octachron + Volca Drum)

video upload by Perplex On

"Took the new version of #Octachron sequencer for a spin which added smart randomizer functions, perfect for a lazy glitchy sunday to tickle one’s ears a bit. Here sequencing the #Volcadrum.

Visuals made with #Visualsynthesizer with the spinning speed midi-mapped to the kick notes."

VMC - midi orientated eurorack modules with voltage control

video upload by Florian Anwander

via https://florian-anwander.de/vmc/

"The VMC-System is a series of modules for Eurorack systems, which provide MIDI handling and (analog) clock handling in a broader sense. The modules are internally connected by an additional ribbon cable, which provides powersupply, MIDI busses and an analog clock bus. Basically this bus can be combined with the Fluxus Modules by http://soundcomplete.net/ if an adapter board is used.

The modules are distributed under the brand name fanwander.

The following modules are planned:
Euro-Pal: a euro rack version of the MIDI-Pal - with kind permission of Emilie Gillet (Merci beaucoup!). Clock-Man: a master clock generator for MIDI-clock, DIN-sync and analog clock. Assumingly including a shuffle and swing function.

Break-Beat: a bar orientated start / stop / restart function. The idea is based on the Mungo-Enterprises Sync2 (I give big kudos to John Pillans!).

DIN-2-CLK: a DIN-sync to analog clock converter. This will be the "professional" followup to my DIN-Sync to analogue clock interface

All modules are available as assembled modules and as kits. Frontpanels and PCBs may be sold separately.

At the moment a first production run has started with the following modules:"

"The VMC-1 is a generic module, which combines an ARDUINO NANO with a display, five buttons, three digital-inputs and two control voltage inputs with amount control.
This module may run various software.

At the moment (12/2021) I offer only the SQ-3P sequencer, but other programs like chord-trigger, voltage controlled MIDI-converts, or similar will follow soon.

You need at least one of the Input/Output modules listed below to connect the VMC-1 to youre MIDI-environment. For details see the VMC-1 users manual

Width: 18HP
Depth: 40mm

Powerconsumption:
if powered with +12V ~300mA, if powered from +5V ~250mA, less if used without LED backlight

The modules are distributed under the brand name fanwander."
