1969: What Is ELECTRONIC MUSIC? | Workshop | Radiophonic Workshop | BBC Archive

video upload by BBC Archive

Be sure to check out 3:59 on. I won't give it away, but it's interesting they had the same views back then. Note 7:33 for a glimpse of what would come. Finally also see this post for Daphne Oram's Oramics and her Bird of Parallax. See the Oramics label for more.

"What is electronic music? How is it produced?

Desmond Briscoe - the head of the BBC Radiophonic Workshop - enlists the help of Daphne Oram, David Cain and John Baker to explain the fundamentals of synthesised sound.

This clip is from Workshop: The Same Trade As Mozart, originally broadcast 3 August, 1969.

You have now entered the BBC Archive, a time machine that will transport you back to the golden age of tv to educate, entertain and enlighten you with classic tv clips from the BBC vaults."

RARE! KORG WAVESTATION EX and KORG WAVESTATION A/D Original VHS Promo Video from 1991

video upload by WayneJoness

"When I first moved to Los Angeles I got a job working for Joe Goodman at the flagship Goodman Music store on Cahuenga Blvd. We were advised to specialize and I became the 'Wavestation' guy. I bought one myself and used it on every music project I worked on. I tried to sell a Wavestation to everyone who walked into Goodman Music. The night I brought home my Wavestation was magical. This was synthesis on a whole new level. Korg distributed VHS tapes to educate the public on the Wavestation EX and A/D units. I saved mine and decided to upload this video. I had a great time working at Goodman Music where I got a lot of opportunities to meet some great musicians. And the staff was great, I particularly liked working with Galen Walker and Michael 'Doc' Dosco who I kept in touch with for years, and manager Jim Mona."

Smooth flowing rivers of beats w/ Great Conjunction FM fragment synth & M8 tracker

video upload by Arman Bohn

"M8 Tracker on the left is playing some soft pads underneath the constantly evolving Great Conjunction.

This is an early prototype of the YM2413 based synth which runs three sequencers concurrently (one pseudo random & 2 Euclidean).

There is no programming of specific notes. What control you have over specific sounds quickly yields to the motifs of interactions and conjunctions between the sequencers."

dawless noise bass techno with the Roland System 100m and TR707 and Juno 6 and 106

video upload by Peter Maas

"Went a bit heavier today:

* Doepfer MAQ 16/3 sequencing the main bassline on the System 100m with some processing of the bugbrand PTDelay and TC 2290
* Heavy processed (KLT1176, BBD Delay and TTSH) TR707 on beat
* Juno 106 through SBF on sirens
* Juno 6 on lead (played during the recording)
* Heavy compressing on the main mix using the Bugbrand stereo compressor"
