Maxing out the QUARTZ // Analogue Solutions Colossus Modules

video upload by Starsky Carr

"What can you do with one of these? I run through how I created a track using a whole load of functions as a single patch on the Analog Solutions Colossus Quartz. It gave me 5 big juicy tracks on analog beef that worked together as a single entity.

There are 12 VCOs, 8 Filters, 8 Envelopes, 4 VCAs (plus 8 in the filters), 2 noise generators, S&H, random voltage generator, 2 spring reverbs, 2 ring mods, 2 32 step analog sequencers, an oscilloscope, touch control keyboard with 16 step sequencer, 2 31x15 pin matrices, a 10 channel stereo analog mixer, and 2 XY joysticks... ie a fair bit to play with. All analog of course.

Some free stuff plus patch banks and samples:

Ambient synth jam with Dreadbox Nymphes, Erebus, Kinotone Ribbons, Chase Bliss Mood MkII

video upload by Jay Hosking

"A live, semi-improvised synthesizer jam performed entirely on hardware.

I recently bought the Kinotone Ribbons, and a member of my Patreon community wisely suggested that I run the Dreadbox Nymphes through it. He was very right (thanks, Robbie!): the Nymphes already has tons of analog synth character, but the Ribbons' stereo reverb plus its tape effects really made the perfect ambient sound.

I played around on the Keystep until I found some chords I liked, sequenced the chord progression on the Keystep, and then went searching for a second synth to complement the Nymphes & Ribbons.

I settled on the Erebus because it's small, sounds fantastic, and has lots of hands-on control. To add some character of its own, I used the Mood MkII to add some sample-reduced tape, plus some of its own reverb. It ended up lo-fi in its own way, and quite different from the Nymphes & Ribbons combo.

At first I thought I might play the Erebus separately, but the slow pace, plus wanting to keep it meditative, made me try something different instead. Here, I sent the same sequencing data to both synths. However, since the Erebus was in mono mode, it had to choose a single note from the polyphony of the chords, leading to a sort of melody line of its own. It was a happy accident, and a peaceful finished song.

Dreadbox Nymphes into Kinotone Ribbons - chords
Dreadbox Erebus into Chase Bliss Mood MkII - lead
Arturia Keystep 37 - sequencing

Thanks for listening.

Instruō Lúbadh & Cš-L // Tape Looper as a Glitch Ambient Machine

video upload by Dexba

"This video follows the live stream from two days ago!
A single voice from the Instruo Cs-L is being fed four different sequences coming from the TipTop Buchla 245t, passing through the two mixers of the 257t, being once again mixed into the Instruo [1]f before entering the Instruo Harmonàig. A touch of reverb coming from the Strymon Starlab, and the recording stereo into the Lubadh, using both the decks.
Tape emulation is cranked up, as the input volume, to get all the tape flavour even while passing through, and after a good amount of recording, you will hear the modulations ready to mangle the tape, overlaying some glitchy madness to the otherwise relatively calm background.
I hope you'll enjoy it! 🧡"

flightofharmony Facehugger preorders and the last of the Blood Boxes

Facehugger ► Parasite video upload by flightofharmony

First a new video for Facehugger. Blood Box details further below.

"Using the Facehugger function generator to control Parasite Antifilter (compilation video).

Starting with a tone from Parasite, then adding a drone from the Infernal Noise Machine, and then using the Facehugger output to control the Mid Q CV input, with random noodlings from thereon.

Facehugger preorders are open now, details at https://flightofharmony.com/facehugge..."

via flightofharmony

"Facehugger: Pre-orders for the new Facehugger all-analog, vector-addressable, chainable, function generator are now open!

The alpha prototype has been built, corrected, and is fully working. The design has been updated and the next circuit board designs are almost complete. The beta and (hopefully) final PCBs will be ordered this week, and test units should be sent out to testers next week, and the production units are expected to ship mid-September."

And:

"Infernal Noise Machine Blood Box: It’s Summer, so it’s time to build the last of the desktop INM Blood Boxes. The first run sold out and now even the eurorack versions are gone, so this run is the very last of the V2 Infernal Noise Machines that will be built."

SSL1660 The Matrix Algorithmic Composer

video upload by John L Rice

"The Matrix Algorithmic Composer model 1660 from Synthetic Sound Labs was designed by Doug Slocum and programed by Harold Screven. It is directly inspired by the Triadex Muse which was invented about 55 years ago by Edward Fredkin and Marvin Minsky at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (M.I.T.) and was one of the earliest digital music sequencers ever created.

"MFB Urzwerg analog CV Gate sequencer with Midi. Please note this is the original version of the Urzwerg and not the V2. I'm not exactly sure what the differences are between the 2, but I'm sure that you can find that info with a little research online. This V1 is priced much cheaper, and is a great little basic CV/Gate sequencer in perfect working order and great cosmetic condition. Comes with power supply.

The video included here [posted here] is a very old video that I posted years ago, that shows this actual Urzwerg in action, controlling both the SH-101 and the delay time on the EHX Memory Boy pedal, which has a CV input."

Panel layout below.

"LIMITED EDITION in red, hard to find in US

ENNER is a very expressive sound tool that can generate bits, pads, FX, noises, clicks, glitches, but also function as a cool vocal mic with built-in analog FX and much more! A musician with a rich imagination and who’s experienced in playing ENNER can perform an entire exciting gig using just this synth.

As an instrument, ENNER is a unique analog synthesizer with the key principle being that all signals that make sound pass through and are managed by your body. Your hands become the central part of the circuitry. Touching different contact pads with different parts of your fingers and palms with different amounts of pressure, letting signals pass through your body defines the mixing, volume, timbre, feedback and other parameters of synthesis. Human skin has much more complex electric properties than we think. Our skin provides not just resistance but also some capacitive properties and even nonlinear dependence of conductivity from current, its direction and time during which the current was applied. All of this affects the sound, making you the key part of the synthesis process.

All pots of ENNER are metallic and also function as inputs or outputs. Touching a pot can change not only the parameters but also patch the audio signals."
