MOLOSS II by Arthelion - Multi Oscillator Linear Open Source Synthesizer

video upload by steve webb

via Arthelion

"MOLOSS is a virtual synth, available as a VST plugin or standandalone exe, to build analog vintage sounds by combining several techniques used in the 80's.

Its 4 voices mix Subtractive synthesis, additive synthesis, frequency (or actually phase) modulation, cross modulation, to allow a very wide sound range, with a lightweight CPU load.

It has a default polyphony of 64 notes, and 2 mono "solo" modes.

A lot of parameters can be modulated with controllers, to give the best live expressivity.

It has a full embedded file-based preset management.

The new version II brings many stability fixes, and an attractive new design by Lozzec with a considerable improvement in usability."

WERSIMATIC CX1

video upload by Vintage Audio Institute Italia

"Here’s some more Wersimatic CX1 for you - a hella stylish auto accompaniment unit made in Germany when the going was good - the early 80s.

The machine looks like a obsolete computer terminal and sports 4 sections :

Analog Drum machine
Bass section
Chord section
Arpeggiator section

We modded this one quite a bit - with separate volumes and outputs for the bass, chords, strings and of course the drum section.
We're routing the separate outs to a ton of different effects:
The Compact Phaser effect is an odd one - it could be a Vermona prototype - it sounds like the Vermona Phaser and looks very nice and stylish for a one off.
It's sitting next to the Compact Schulte Phaser and you can see the resemblance in design."

Modular Percussion: Rings, Elements and Stolperbeats

video upload by Making Sound Machines

"Super excited to be part of Dutch Modular Fest @dutchmodularfest4609 today - a super nice one day modular meet in Utrecht NL with workshops, lots of great synth makers and concerts. We will be showing our #Stolperbeats drum trigger sequencer and a handful of rare unreleased prototypes.

If you've been eyeing one of our Eurorack DIY kits and you want to build it together with us, today is the perfect opportunity! Hang out with us and build a Farbfolder, Farbshaper, Farbhighpass or TausenddB and Multiplikand with us.

Our friends Stijn and Priscilla from TiNRS @thisisnotrocketscience3942 will be showing their awesome new collaborations with Paul Error Instruments@paultasbeeb: Brinta, a lovely granular module for live recording and processing audio, and White Rabbit, a fantastic reverb and delay ranging from etheral to glitchy.

Lauri @vaski will show off his beautiful new 2HP Lights Stereo Visualizer audio visualisation module and a handful of other incredibly clever utilities like the ECS-4 Triggered Switch and his AM-3/3 Triple Attenuverter Matrix.

We've been playing with prototypes of these modules for a while and it's super exciting to see them being released now!

Today's video is a little jam that happened when packing for Dutch Modular Fest. Stolperbeats is seen here sequencing Mutable Instruments awesome physical modelling synths #Elements as well as #Rings through their Streams dual dynamics gate with percussion from our own secret modular drum prototype.

The reverb in this sketch is @Befacosynth Lich, a great programmable multi-function module based on the @RebelTechnologies OWL platform. If you are into PureData, Max or Faust, you should give this one a whirl!

Meet the Luma-1 - Joe Britt's Enhanced LM-1 Drum Machine In Collaboration with Roger Linn

Joe Britt LM1+ demo video upload by Roger Linn

This one is in via Soviet Space Child.

Above is a prototype Luma-1 in an LM-1 case. Below you'll see some pics of the upcoming Luma1 branded case along with some details.

According to @luma1_drum_machine:

"Welcome! We are two US based engineers who are building and selling a few Luma1 Drum Machines with Roger Linn and Joe Britt’s consent."

"While the Luma1 hardware design is in the final stage for preparation before manufacturing, there is much work happening on the software side. Luma1 is running the original LM1 code on the Z80 CPU while the secondary ARM processor delivers new features. Those include custom sound loading, MIDI, synchronization and now added OLED support. More work needs to be done to expand it and bring brand the new functionality, but we’re really happy with the progress."

Click the pics for larger shots. You can find a full write-up on Roger Linn's website here, and additional demos and pics on Instagram here.

Roger Linn: "I've recently met a new friend named Joe Britt, founder and CEO of a tech company here in Silicon Valley called Afero, and designer of some significant tech products over the years.

Lucky for me, Joe also has a personal interest in my old drum machines. A few years ago, a friend of his gave him (!) one of my old LM1 drum machines. He enjoyed playing with it, but he wished it had a few extra features like loading alternate sounds from files, and pitch and pan knobs on the front panel.

So he decided to make his own enhanced LM1. He searched the web and found some incomplete old schematics, filled in the gaps by reverse-engineering the boards, then redesigned and replaced all of the circuit boards to include his enhancements. Note in the photo above that his redesigned boards are about half the size of the original boards, and are purple! Prince would have loved that."
