ASM Hydrasynth - "Blockbuster" (40 Exclusive Presets)

video upload by LFOstore

"A powerful sound that permeates the whole body and causes shivers - this is how you can characterize the new powerful soundset from LFO Store! This is a real blockbuster, in which each character plays his role in a way that surprises listeners to the core. The well-known sound designer Otto K. Schwarz prepared something completely new, revealing Hydrasynth to its maximum potential!

Each preset here has a modwheel assigned, as well as up to 8 modulation knobs, which will allow you to modify and transform sounds beyond recognition, getting a complex design. At the same time, many sounds have a multi-categorical nature, that is, they can be used as leads, or as plucks, and even as drones. In this pack you will find many effects and soundscapes, as well as cosmic leads, soft exhilarating pads, intriguing plucks, humming basses and much more!

These presets are especially good for soundtracks, however, suitable for various styles of music - for ambient, electronic dance music, futuristic experiments or even creating a retro flavour. Get ready to take your compositions to the next level!"

Solina String effects demo: Filters, phasers, drives and dirt

video upload by Richard DeHove

"The Solina's raw sound is not like your standard synth so it tends to react differently to effects. I tried lots of different effects and picked the most interesting to show here. First up was the Erica Synth AcidBox III which, surprisingly, was an excellent match. Using the AcidBox with full resonance was fun and would sound even better with stereo delay but I wanted to keep things to just one effect at a time here. Perhaps the AcidBox works so well because of the lack of controls on the Solina - suddenly the Solina gets an LFO, filter, resonance, input drive and envelope follower.

The phaser test with the EHX SmallStone, Phaser 95 and PH-1r I also found very interesting. For me the Ph-1r had the richest sound and the SmallStone was identical to the onboard phaser.

In the drive, disortion and dirt department the Glove and B3K had their moments while the Geiger Counter ranged from mild to total destruction and some bit crushing at the end.

I also included a short demo with the Boss Slicer, but that thing requires several hours discussion just by itself. Where I'm playing a chord with one note I'm actually triggering a Cthulu chord player in the DAW. Most chords are taken from a custom import of the main string line from Bruckner's 7th.

AVP Synth MBS-100 and ADS-7 mk2

video upload by Pedro Luis Gomis

Supposedly, only 30 MBS-100 were produced. It was first featured on the site back in 2017 here, where you can find pics and full details.

And one of the ADS-7 mk2 being driven by the Sequentix Cirklon V2:

"Very rare original Oberheim SEM (Synthesizer Expander Module) from the 70's.It has been fully serviced by Bell Tone Synth Works in Philadelphia, PA, in August 2022 and works beautifully! As usual, they did a wonderful job! The enclosure has some marks but the module itself is in excellent condition. The only thing that is not functional is the Midi retrofit but I believe this could be fixed easily in case needed. Other than that it works as a CV/GATE module exactly as expected and sounds great! (note: it was originally 240 volts but was converted to 110 volts by Bell Tone)."

This unit is fully functional and has been tested. Only minor work over the years no major component upgrades, original transistors and capacitors are all in good shape.

Some pics of the inside.

"Very rare, 4 digit serial number (8640) Rocky Mountain Instruments 368x. This is a chance to own a never-been-emulated electric piano just like one Ray Manzerek played with the doors. While not yet as famous as other keyboards from the era like the fender Rhodes it Vox continental, the RMI was nearly as prolific featuring in everything from country rock ballads with Steve Earles band to Broadway being one of Sondheims own early electric piano choices.

This example is in fully working order, though showing signs of corrosion around the leg bases and some key posts. there is general wear and tear as to be found on a previous session instrument And a few keys seem slightly out of tune, though this reduces with proper warm up time."

Z-Tronics Z-Midi Interface

"The Z-tronics system is a stand-alone system and does not in itself incorporate MIDI signals for output to external MIDI devices such as Synthesizers and Sequencers for generating external electronic sounds or for Recording and Playing actual performances. The Z-MIDI interface was developed to interface at the data level and may be easily added to any Z-tronics system, old or new. Connection requires the two timing signals plus one wire in and out per manual.

There are two models available. Z-MIDI-1 provides one MIDI channel in and out, and is useful for adding a dedicated MIDI sound module for one voice such as a Piano. Z-MIDI directly supports the PianoDisk (c) in a real acoustic piano, or any MIDI Sound Module generated voice.

The Z-MIDI-1 also supports stand-alone uses such as adding a pipe organ chest to ANY keyboard instrument having a MIDI Out. A special version of the Z-MIDI-1 may be installed to operate real Chimes or Carillon, automatically ringing the hour and playing MIDI files (such as Hymns) at programmed times of the day.

Z-MIDI-16 is a full 16 channel OUT, 12 to 16 channel IN module which supports BOTH a Sequencer for Record/Playback AND a separate Sound Module. MIDI Sound Modules may be unified or coupled, or not, as desired. While a factory configuration supports Record/Playback for up to 8 manuals (including pedal and second touch) and Sound Module support for up to four manuals, these defaults may be customized for special installations. An optional Human Interface keypad and display enables preset voices to be selected, and other operating parameters changed. MIDI presets may be operated from the combination action.

The Z-MIDI Interface does not process signals normally used to play the organ, and thus does not affect the reliability of the system."
