Bad Gear - The 90s called...

video upload by AudioPilz

"Welcome to Bad Gear, the show about the world's most hated audio tools. Today we are going to talk about the Korg Electribe EM-1 Music Production Station. Can this all-in-one music production tool from the year 2001 give us the sound of the 90s??? Is it on par with its more famous sibling, the Korg Electribe ER-1 rhythm synthesizer and can it keep up with contemporary grooveboxes like the Korg Electribe 2, Akai MPC One, Roland MC-101, Elektron Digitakt or Teenage Engineering OP-1??? The 90s called... they want their crunchy lofi samples back."

video upload by tonetweakers

"Here’s the ARP Odyssey mk3 we just rebuilt and sold to our customer. We have another we can refurbish for you. This process took 27 hours of skilled vintage synth tech time, which is what it often takes when you’re not cutting corners, like most people do. The resulting instrument plays better than new and sounds prefect.

"In very good condition despite its 43 years, just a few small marks here and there, nothing ugly or noticeable. everything works and I can do video or video chat if you want!

the psu is just recapped with high grade capacitors.

it is ready for midi, but I don't supply the external box and the internal card. I can supply both the external module and the external box with an addition of 500 euros."

Toyo Gakki TG-77 "Chestron" w/ Rhythm Section & Leather Case

video upload by Gadje Strada

This is the first post to feature pictures of the Chestron. It was mentioned in Strange Synthesizers of Japan by Hiromichi Oohashi - Synth Book w/ CD as well as Peter Forrest's A-Z of Analogue Synthesizers. It's worth noting Toyo Gakki made the ULT-SOUND aka Ultimate Sound drum synths.

I found the video above after seeing the listing below. Note the video is from 5 years ago and I'm guessing it's not the same one listed.

YAMAHA EOS B200 DEMO with VoiceCard RCD4000 video upload by s_drastic

This appears to be the first one featured on the site. Note the above is a video I found after seeing the listing below. It features the VoiceCard RCD4000 which does not appear to be included in that listing.

The following covers some factory sounds. I'm guessing the quality is closer to the above in person. The B2000 reminds me of a keyboard version of the QY70.

Sedimented

video upload by Luca Longobardi

"Impermanenza is the title of my new album (to be released in the first half of 2024). The album describes a precise way of writing music based on the unrepeatability of some details, on the discovery of new possibilities of one's setup, on experimentation based on practical intuition . A sort of 'method' that has matured and unconsciously settled during the last year of work. This song was conceived, written and recorded this way this morning. And exactly like the concept of the unexpected, I decided that it will be a bonus track of the album (but also the first single dropped without warning today only on my social channels).

On setup:
_ drone from OP-1 using the Hold sequencer;
_ Awake from Norns into Crow that manages Just Friends. Arpeggio created by setting the Time knob in order to rhythmically phase out the two melodic lines of Awake;
_ Dradd provides via granular synthesis to 'cover' the arpeggio making it a chord progression in the first and last part of the piece.

Enjoy!"
