23

video upload by Cinematic Laboratory

"The latest Soma Digest (16) had a link to a #Pulsar23 'diode' experiment by Conatus Modulari from Rotterdam, NL. I am not sure how many of you own a Pulsar, but I see it shine at many live gigs by many people, and recently Johno Wells dedicated a whole show to it. Anyway, this 'diode' trick is amazing. Basically you'd combine an LFO with a Clock, LFO patched to the right side, Clock to the Left. Also clock the LFO with something. Then, patch/pinch/clip another line from the Clock side to your kick trigger and adjust to taste. I don't know how it works, I just know I love it. It reminds me of euclidian rhythms, but there's no code, no logic, just analog magic.
There's a video to Conatus' video where he explains how it works so I can just jam and experiment with the Buchla keys."

First Jams with the Solar 42

video uploads by Uncle Tony

"Second shot at making something with the Solar 42. This thing has incredible range. Wild noise and beautiful sounds. Here's one on the beautiful end."

1. Swell - Solar 42
Love that there's a 5-step sequence on this. Love anything in 5. I found this neat quirk of the Solar 42 where if you touch the nut that secures some of the patch points with a cable that's already plugged in, it causes the pitch on all the oscillators to detune together in this really nice way. Super cool.
2. Solar 42 - Grasslands
Here's one that's more laid back, peaceful and expansive. Love the white noise generators on this thing. The loop and hold functionality on voices 4 and 5 are really handy, too. I used those to make the repeating siren noises about halfway through.
3. Scamper - Solar 42
Here's something a little hectic and dissonant. Still learning to mix and balance the all the voices together.
4. Solar 42 Improv In G
Second shot at making something with the Solar 42. This thing has incredible range. Wild noise and beautiful sounds. Here's one on the beautiful end.
5. First Jam with the Solar 42
Getting to know the Solar 42 from @ELTAmusic. This thing is amazing. Looking forward to getting a better handle on it.

d16group Intros Sigmund 2 High-quality Delay Line

video upload by d16group

"Sigmund is far from just another delay. Four delay lines that can be interconnected in several different ways provide an incredible degree of sound-shaping freedom.

To get more info please visit: https://d16.pl/sigmund2"

"Sigmund is far from just another delay. It provides an incredible degree of soundshaping freedom.

The plug-in consists of four discrete delay units, each with an independent set of parameters that offer you the freedom to shape your sound. There’s an ancient saying, often attributed to Aristotle: The whole is greater than the sum of its parts. With Sigmund, this is especially true as each of the delay lines has complementary modules such as filter and overdrive built in, working independently from the feedback loop. The delay lines themselves can also be combined together in several ways. Sigmund’s user interface has been designed from the ground up to be as intuitive as possible. Everything is presented as if on a silver (or brushed aluminum) platter, cleanly and clearly laid out with instant access to each section and its parameters."

Nicholas Semrad's Sequential Rev 2 "Vintage Tribute" Patch Set (Demo)

video upload by Nicholas Semrad

"Here is a demo video for my now available-for-purchase Sequential Prophet Rev 2 "Vintage Tribute" Patch Set. You can purchase these patches at my website, www.nicholastsemrad.com/shop.

These patches are meant for use with the Sequential Prophet Rev 2 (8 or 16 voice). They will not work with any other hardware or software programs.

This patch set contains 2 parts:
- 25 patches I created to emulate some of my favorite vintage synths and synth sounds from various 70's/80's recordings
- BONUS: 40 patches meant to pay homage to the first 40 presets on the Sequential Circuits Prophet 5

DISCLAIMER: While the patches that begin with "P5" are meant to pay homage to the original Prophet 5, they will not sound 'exactly' the same. The P5 and the Rev 2 are very different boards with very different modulation functions and data ranges."

ESK - Erica Synths Syntrx Noise and FX Session

video upload by Metunar

"Noise and FX session with the Erica Synths Syntrx analog synthesizer.
It’s one patch. All in mono. The Syntrx is really fun to use for effect sounds. No external effects, only soft mastering.

"I haven’t used this module in years so I gave it a test to check for functionality. It works about like new but could use a proper calibration? "

Contraption

video upload by nbor

"Gearing up for Wednesday's monthly in dt San Jose. I've been trying to make the most of the small synths, as it makes for a very portable situation. With only one effect on one sound, it is all very close to the circuits and raw.

Production notes: A dawless jam run on battery power alone. Roland SH-01A, Korg Volca FM, Meeblip Geode, @1010music Blackbox, and Sensel Morph. The Roland is going through a @MerisUs LVX delay. I found the cheap and compact "G-MARK" mixer from AliExpress for frighteningly cheap. It does a darn decent job, and is crazy small.

There are a couple battery packs - a 150Wh and a 99Wh. I ended up using the 2nd because the blackbox was making too much USB noise when everything was plugged into the 150Wh. There was still quite a bit of noise, but the Izotone RX-8 does a good job cleaning that out."
