The build quality of Lyricon instruments is un-matched by any other modern or vintage wind instruments. Utilizing a mat chrome plated brass housing (not plastic) and spring loaded key pivots on metal keys with mother of pearl inserts, the action is similar to acoustic wind instruments. This type of action is familiar to and preferred by many musicians. The Wind Driver is strictly an analog instrument. There is no MIDI on board, though the analog voltages can be used to drive a CV to MIDI converter (not included) if desired.
The Lyricon Wind Synthesizer outputs analog control voltages that must be patched to a separate synthesizer (not included) It will not produce sound on its own. Numerous 1/4” jacks are provided that output control voltages for Pitch, Wind (volume), Gates and Pitch Bend. These outputs can be connected to your synthesizer’s VCO, VCA, Gates and VCF inputs, though only a VCO and VCA are required to produce sound. If you prefer an instrument that has on-board sound generating capabilities, the Lyricon 1 or Lyricon II would be more appropriate."
