FLUX Breakout Box (SOMA Labs demo)

video upload by SOMA Laboratory

via SOMA Labs

The Breakout Box is a portable standalone module that operates in two modes:

With FLUX — enables using FLUX as a controller for external hardware via CV or MIDI/MPE.

As a MIDI-to-CV converter — compatible with any DAW or sequencer that supports MIDI CC messages.

In both modes, the Breakout Box is connected to a host device and powered via USB-C.

The Breakout Box is housed in a compact metal enclosure with dimensions 140×45×34 mm.

The front panel and internal construction are designed to allow mounting as a 6HP Eurorack module.

When installed in a Eurorack system, it does not require an internal power supply and is powered through the USB port.

When used with FLUX, the Breakout Box provides access to all key FLUX parameters as CV and MIDI outputs, including:

Pitch and velocity (monophonic and duophonic modes),

6 bipolar CV outputs from the timbral keyboard (interpreted either as independent sensors or as 3D XYZ data),

Tilt CV output.

When used as a MIDI-to-CV converter, it supports control via standard MIDI or MPE, and CC messages.

CV outputs can be mapped according to user-defined settings, which can be configured via a PC and stored in the Breakout Box’s non-volatile memory."

Akai CUT Roger Linn?! The Wild MPC60 Story + Prodigy Sampling Breakdown

video upload by Nostalgic Explorer

"The Akai MPC60 by Roger Linn is the machine that reshaped hip-hop, electronic, trip-hop, and rave culture. Today, I'm diving into why this legendary sampler still inspires producers, and then I jump into a hands-on sampling session inspired by The Prodigy — 'Smack My B%tch Up' from The Fat of the Land era.

I’ll explore its story — from design breakthroughs and 12-bit grit, to the Akai drama that cut Roger Linn out of his own creation — and then I’ll show you how to sample, trim, assign pads, sequence, and jam directly on the MPC60.

What you’ll learn:
• Why the MPC60 became a classic
• How early electronic pioneers used it
• Sampling on the MPC60 step-by-step (The Basics)
• Assigning pads, bars & sequencing
• Playing & jamming the samples on the MPC

I’ll show you a simple way to start sampling and building beats on the MPC60 using The Prodigy’s iconic track as inspiration, no plugins, no DAW, just the machine."

00:00 — Intro: Why the Akai MPC60 changed music forever
00:35 — MPC60 history: specs, limitations & the Roger Linn drama
02:33 — Why producers still love the MPC60 (Dilla, Shadow, Prodigy & more)
03:28 — Sampling The Prodigy “Smack My B%tch Up” on the MPC60
05:56 — How to sample a song on the MPC60 (step-by-step)
06:15 — How to assign a sequence on the MPC60
06:41 — How to set the number of bars on the MPC60
07:00 — How to record a new sample on the MPC60
07:20 — How to set sample length (seconds) on the MPC60
07:56 — How to check recording levels (REC METER) on MPC60
08:44 — How to name and save a sample on the MPC60
09:26 — How to edit and trim a sample on the MPC60
10:19 — How to assign a sample to pads on the MPC60
10:47 — Poly vs Mono: stop samples from overlapping on the MPC60
12:28 — Playing and testing samples on the MPC60

Pretty sure the patch can sound better. Probably with 3 voices total instead of 9."

"Half Time Modular's 8TR is a 4HP skiff-friendly module that lets you record 8 mono tracks of modular level signals at up to 24bit/48khz, for as long as you have card space for. In this demo I'll explain the idea, its 2HP expander, record a quick jam, show you how you import 8TR recordings via MicroSD to Ableton Live (it records Polywav files), and discuss the resulting multitrack. 👉 https://www.halftimemodular.com/"

"This listing is for the Combo only. A rare never offered combo… at least I haven’t seen it. This is a mint Octave Cat SRM II and Cat Stick in good condition. Th SRM II was in a box. NOS. For 40 years.. the original pressed wood sides were replaced with gorgeous wood end cheeks.. I have the original manual and advertising pamphlets that were included. also I have the original box. The Stick has some scratches in the top right. They were there when I bought it from Main Drag Music."

"Listed as 'modular' - but it's a semi-modular, 4-voice paraphonic synth, or mono synth, with on-board effects (reverb, delays, phaser, flanger, chorus), internal sequencer and interpolator (innovative design where sequencing can combine morphing of the oscillators, filter, LFO and envelopes), with patch memories. Very useful multi-mode filter (LP, BP, HP), with digital and analogue filter circuits. Good connectivity including midi (front and rear) for this to be the centre of your modular universe.....and it sounds wonderful and is built like a tank. Version 2 firmware with version 1 livery. This is the more expensive desktop version which can be rehoused in a eurorack case by simply disconnecting from the internal power bus and removing from the case. The case does however provide benefits for connectivity, e.g., the 1/4 inch jack inputs to run any external signal (mono or stereo) via the effects section. A future classic?"
