The Crow Hill Company Introduces FOREST HARPS Incantatory Invention
video upload by CROW HILL
"In this video Christian walks us through his latest incatative invention made in collaboration with the entire Crow Hill team. Forest Harps is made up of a rare find coupled with medieval ingredients and his own very special and grotesque approach to sound design. If you're looking for a harp that isn't a harp, a classical guitar that isn't a classical guitar and some fully controllable shifts in darkness of tone for your next score, song or soundtrack it would be worth checking out"
Press release follows:
The Crow Hill Company continues investigating its Origins series of virtual instrument plug-in collectibles with FOREST HARPS incantatory invention
EDINBURGH, UK: The Crow Hill Company is delighted to continue investigating its Origins series of virtual instrument plug-in collectables with the release of its intriguing-sounding FOREST HARPS — being billed as an incantatory invention collectively crafted by the Edinburgh-based enterprise, effectively comprising a harp made from elk horn, conch shell, animal ribs, and fishing wire brought together with medieval psaltries fed through a slowly rotating Leslie cabinet to create a forest floor of plucks, textures, and atmospheres as a rare and grotesque approach to sound design — as of October 20…

Press release follows:
49 full-size semi-weighted keys, expanded panel controls, and a pressure-sensitive XYZ touch matrix bring a new physical dimension to the Freak architecture, while Audio-rate Filter FM and Voice Panning extend its sonic reach - making shaping a patch and playing it feel like the same act.

_Explore the unconventionalTwo digital engines. Analog Filters and VCAs per voice. A restless appetite for experimentation. MiniFreak 49 puts the familiar and the unruly within reach, from rich polyphonic textures to fractured rhythms and abrasive harmonics. Play a chord, reach for a control, press into the matrix. Playing a patch is only the beginning.
_Touch, press, transform
The new XYZ touch matrix brings performance, modulation, and navigation onto one surface.
Assign modulation with direct, color-coded feedback, swipe through presets, or watch reactive visualizers follow your playing.
Switch to Freak Control and put the sound under your fingers.
Push a Macro further, tighten the Gate, or use Spice to introduce variation.
Bipolar and vector layouts let you move between contrasting settings and blend across four corners, with pressure adding a third dimension of expression.
_That's not all
Room to play
49 full-size semi-weighted keys with velocity and mono aftertouch give chords, melodic lines, and two-handed performances room to breathe. Aluminum pitch and modulation wheels keep expression under your left hand.
Push every sound further
Audio-rate Filter FM from either engine adds harmonics, grit, and vocal-like textures. Dedicated Type, Wave, Timbre, and Shape controls, plus three selection shortcuts per oscillator, make sound shaping more immediate.
Six voices in stereo
Voice Panning spreads individual voices across the stereo field, adding width to chords and spatial movement to sequences.
MiniFreak 49
Three FX slots, each with a dedicated access button and 13 algorithms, cover everything from chorus and reverb to distortion and vocoder processing.
The Freak architecture
Two digital engines offer 30+ oscillator modes, with algorithms from Arturia, Mutable Instruments and Noise Engineering. Blend their sounds or use Engine 2 to process Engine 1, then shape each voice through its own resonant analog filter.
Shape every step
A 64-step sequencer and four modulation lanes keep notes and timbres in motion. Long-press a step to adjust its length and velocity on the touch matrix. Add arpeggiator ratchets and repeats, or introduce fresh variations with Spice & Dice.
Your Freak in the DAW
Included MiniFreak V brings the hardware’s sound and architecture into your DAW, with preset management and bidirectional control. The MiniFreak 49-compatible version is exclusive to registered MiniFreak 49 hardware owners.

Roland Refreshes the Popular Roland Boutique Lineup with Two Powerful New Additions
Los Angeles, CA, October 20, 2026 — Roland announces two new additions to its long-running lineup of Roland Boutique instruments for on-the-go creation, performance, and music production. The JUPITER-08 is a special release that celebrates 45 years of the Roland JUPITER-8, one of the most coveted analog synthesizers of all time. n/vision is a newly developed instrument that elevates the sophisticated character of classic wavetable synthesis with Roland's latest technologies.
Introduced in 2015, Roland Boutique is a growing world of compact instruments that drive fresh creative approaches in electronic music, expanding on legendary sounds of the past with workflows tailored for modern producers and musicians. The sound is immense and iconic—often inspired by famous Roland designs—while the small, portable form factor is made for in-the-moment creativity. Whether performing live on stage, producing in the studio, or playing for pure enjoyment, Roland Boutique delivers an exceptional musical experience for creators of all kinds.
With the latest additions, the current Roland Boutique lineup now includes eight unique models. The JUPITER-08 and n/vision carry on all the great design features that the series is known for, including built-in speakers, flexible battery/USB-C power, and USB audio/MIDI connectivity for interfacing with music software. These new models also include a K-25m keyboard dock, making them standalone instruments for instant inspiration.
JUPITER-08 Synthesizer
Widely regarded as the king of polysynths, the Roland JUPITER-8 has been revered by generations of musicians since its debut in 1981. This powerhouse instrument helped define the era's electronic music with its huge, dreamy tones, and it continues to be heard in classic synth-pop tracks, video game soundtracks, film scores, modern pop hits, and more. The JUPITER-08 celebrates the 45th anniversary of the analog legend with this special addition to the Roland Boutique series. Offering sonic capabilities and interface features inspired by the original hardware, this powerful mini synth delivers classic sound, hands-on control, and modern performance tools in a go-everywhere design.
With its flexible sound engine, the JUPITER-08 is a highly capable musical tool. By default, the synth is set for a retro experience with the eight-part/two-voice architecture of the original JUPITER-8, but users can internally expand the polyphony to 32 voices to meet modern playing needs and craft all-new tonalities. With refined voice allocation and pitch behavior, the JUPITER-08 provides a rich, animated playing experience with enhanced polyphonic performance and genuine vintage-inspired character.
The JUPITER-08 comes equipped with a two-part, 64-step polyphonic sequencer and an arpeggio function, ready to capture ideas and build dynamic, evolving sounds on the fly. Onboard processing is also available for extensive sound shaping and spatial enhancement. Users can tap into 17 unique effects—including chorus and MFX—plus dedicated delay and a reverb with five types and a unique shimmer mode.
n/vision Wavetable Synthesizer
n/vision is a small yet mighty synthesizer that elevates classic wavetable synthesis with advanced Roland sound-shaping techniques. Newly developed for the Roland Boutique series, it delivers a powerful platform for crafting rich tonalities and evolving textures, offering hands-on control for immediate creative interaction and deep menu-driven tools for sophisticated sound design.
Powered by Roland’s latest sound advancements, n/vision allows players to build evocative textures through a tactile synthesizer workflow. Users can easily blend and shape two wavetable layers to create animated movement, moving pads, aggressive leads, complex timbres, and more.
Multiple modulation sources can influence wavetable position, layer balance, pitch, and shaping parameters, enabling highly dynamic sound movement. Roland’s innovative wave-shaper technology transforms incoming waveforms through non-linear processing, generating new harmonics and unique textures that go beyond the capabilities of traditional wavetable synthesis.
n/vision’s top-level interface supports immediate sound creation, but users can dive much deeper if they want. Step LFO, envelope modulation, oscillator modulation, motion recording, and extensive parameter control open powerful sound design capabilities. n/vision also provides additional sonic enhancement with a drive-enhanced analog-modeling filter, multiple filter models inspired by classic synths, and the same powerful effects processing options as the JUPITER-08.

PolyArp 1.4.0 + Moog Subsequent 37 | Standalone Tutorial
video upload by Iris Orbit
"Explore PolyArp 1.4.0:
https://irisorbit.io/polyarp/
Build a two-part MIDI pattern with PolyArp 1.4.0, then play it on a Moog Subsequent 37. Follow the English on-screen explanations from MIDI setup through Repeat Last, custom Draw rhythms and the final performance at 121 BPM.
Setup:
Novation Launchkey Mini MK3 → PolyArp 1.4.0 standalone → Moog Subsequent 37
The Moog is in Duo Mode for two-note paraphonic playing: two pitches share its filter. PolyArp generates MIDI; the Moog provides the sound.
The walkthrough covers Gate, octave range and shift, Direction, fixed velocities, and editing each hand's rhythm. Repeat Last with Count 2 plays the final note of the pattern twice in total. In Draw mode, notes are removed to create space in each part.
Chapters:
0:00 Performance preview and MIDI setup
0:20 Shape the rhythm and note range
0:42 Repeat Last and Count
1:14 Edit both rhythms in Draw
1:44 Live performance at 121 BPM"

Megafold Legio: Wavefolder+waveshaper and chorus on the Legio platform
video upload by Noise Engineering
"Megafold Legio combines our wavefolder with waveshaping, dynamics tracking, and stereo chorus for all sorts of harmonic destruction.
Get a Legio module and swap to this firmware today: https://noiseengineering.us/products/...
Let's start with Gain. This drives your signal into the wavefolder, adding more folds and harmonic complexity as you push it.
Shape changes the character of the folding itself, giving you another way to transform the harmonics and completely reshape your sound.
And when Gain and Shape are pulled back, they work together as a blend, letting you mix the processed sound with your original signal.
Envelop lets Megafold follow the dynamics of your incoming audio, so the folding and shaping can respond to how your sound changes over time.
Then there's stereo chorus. One switch controls the amount while the other changes its speed, adding stereo movement to all that folded mayhem.
And if you need a little more mayhem, send a gate to FSU.
Today your Legio is folding, shaping, and chorusing your sound. A quick USB swap and it can be crushing bits, processing dynamics, mangling grains, or doing something completely different.

Morphor Echon 6 sounds
video upload by David Bessell
"Demo sounds for the Echon 6 physical modelling synthesizer. There is a lot more you can do with this than the presets suggest. This is where I got to after about a week, there are deeper functions I haven't touched yet but its sounding good so far. All sounds are just a single layer, a tough of external reverb added."
