"In this series, this time I tried to reproduce more elements of my fav tracks. For beats I used my Korg Electribe SX drum sampler again, now filled with classic Oberheim DMX and DX drummachine sounds. For drums only the ESX internal fx were used. No actual tracks were sampled except Blue Monday's choir sound; this was sampled from the original source track Uranium by Kraftwerk.
All tracks recreated by ear. All synth, bass & fx parts were programmed on my Roland Juno 106 synth (1984), and recorded with a Boss SE50 effect processor. In the originals different synths were used. All played and filmed live during recording, no MIDI sequencer was used.
Blue Monday / The Beach - New Order The Walk - The Cure Living on Video - Trans-X (note: this may have been TR-808 instead or combined) I Feel for You - Chaka Khan Makin' Music - Gary's Gang (LinnDrum conga + cowbell) Look of Love - ABC Happy Station - Fun Fun Weekend - Class Action / Larry Levan Body Talk - Imagination
"Recreations, again by ear, of some classic early 80s beats that were originally made on a Roland TR-808 drummachine. This became the signature sound for freestyle music and later for house.
No actual records were sampled. All sounds are from the 808, except the synth drum solos played on the ribbon controller. I noticed that some of the tracks actually used LinnDrum kicks *. Only the SX's internal effects and synthesis were used.

"Pop/electro with a touch of funk, mostly done with Moog Little Phatty, Microkorg and too many freeware softsynths that I can recall..."

"Future musician (I hope) trying out some new custom sounds for a vintage Sakata/Hammond DPM-48 Drum Machine. Custom Electronic Snare EPROM chip added thanks to the work of DMX/EPROM specialist Paul White of Electrongate.com"
