Peter Vogel CMI add Audiobus with On the BUS Competition $1,000 Cash Prize

"The CMI app for iOS by Peter Vogel Instruments, modeled on the legendary Fairlight CMI, lets you experience music-making in unique, retro ‘80s style.

To celebrate the release of the Audiobus-capable version of the CMI App for iOS, Peter Vogel Instruments presents the 'CMI on the Bus' competition.

We’re offering $1,000 cash prize for the most creative track made using the CMI app connected with other apps through Audiobus.

Audiobus is A Tasty Pixel’s new inter-app audio router system which connects compatible music apps together, just like virtual cables. For details see www.audiob.us. Purchase it from the iTunes store [links below].

To enter the competition, create a video and upload it to YouTube. The video must include at least:

• Music composed by you and performed on the CMI app using Audiobus. It can use a sequence or live playing or both.

• Footage of you using the app while riding on a bus of your choice.

You are encouraged to include some explanation or exposition of the creative process. Collaboration with other musicians is also a plus.

Entries must be submitted by 17:00 (Australian Eastern Standard Time), 30th April 1 2013. The winner will be selected by PVI sta.

First prize is $1,000 (Australian dollars). The best ten entries will receive aPVI teeshirt and other great merchandise.

"One note sequence on the Monomachine, manipulated by the new SFX-JII by GugaBox!

My 1st test with the new SFX-JII Midi controller. Designed for Elektron gear, but can control anything that accepts Midi! Ive not RTM yet but... you know - too much fun! There are 4 mini-jacks on the side - one for pots, FSRs, LED resistors or any DIY input and I believe the other 3 can be used to integrate Modular stuff (going to have to check that out tho!)!!!

Oh - and did I mention - It can run on a 9v BATTERY?!?!?!

MAN! Im gonna have a LOT of fun with this box, hopefully more videos to come!

"Song starts out with a drone on the Minimoog Voyager OS. After a couple of minutes the second drone on the MFOS Soundlab Mini-Synth comes it. Finally the "melody" is on the Moog Prodigy. Accompanying effects are Moog MF-104M Analog Delay & Electro-Harmonix Cathedral.

If anyone knows where to find the software for this please comment or shoot me an email. From the description of the auction it sounds like this one comes with it, but if you bid, be sure to make sure with the seller on eBay.

"The Roland CMU-800 is a four-channel mixer with internal preset voices and sequencer software for an Apple II or PC. There is a ribbon cable out the back with a card attached. It features analog synthesis with fixed sounds. Four note polyphony in the chord section, monophonic bass and melody synth sections, and an analog drum section.

The Chord/Melody section has only 1 sound. The drum section is similar to the TR-606 Drumatix, and the bass section is similar to the TB-303 Bassline (some limited adjustments in sound were possible via software). It has separate melody, bass, chord, rhythm, mix outputs. There's also 8 cv/gate outs to run external analog equipment by control voltages, and there's a click in/out. On the face it has knobs for portamento, Melody sustain & decay, Bass decay, and Chord decay. It also has volume level sliders for each of the instruments and a master volume slider. The software uses a similar music programming method as the MC-8 or MC-4."

There is a possibility to use a low frequency amplifier such as radio receiver, TV and tape recorder. The quality of the sounding depends on an acoustic amplifier.
