Krell 2 0

video upload by Todd Barton

"This evening I thought about revisiting my original Krell [posted in 2012 here] and giving it another tweak...
Headphones or studio monitors recommended."

DX5 performing The Human League "The Sound of the Crowd"

video upload by DX5

"A simple but interesting song not much known by the early days of The Human League V2 (when the female vocalists joined). If you don't know the original version, check it out. I found it catchy, specially the chorus. So I decided to pick my two analogues plus the JP8000 and give it a try

Gear used:

Left:
Roland MRS2 Promars: single VCO bass (and extra sub bass on backtrack)
Roland JP8000: Cross Mod lead

Right:
Korg Polysix: Sawtooth lead

Backtrack previously recorded, instrument by instrument, on Pro Tools (just drums and the extra sub bass). Original song composed by Phil Oakey, Ian Burden.

Performed here by DX5 Jose Maria Bara"

Massive Buchla 100 / 200 Based Eurorack System

"This is a very focused eurorack system that sounds just like Buchla, and allows you to have a huge amount of modules in a small portion of the space a 'real' Buchla system would take up. And for much less money. Although this system contains some extremely rare modules, we’re still pricing it below the MSRP according to Modular Grid. To be safe, we added high shipping (we will refund the difference when it costs less).

Now there are a ton of Low Pass Gates, which is one of the keys to the Buchla sound. There is a dual lowpass filter, and the Sharp cutoff filter that does bandpass or simultaneous high and low passes. I like running sine/saw waves into Tokyo Gate into the Sharp filter into the other channel on the Tokyo gate, while modulating one half the oscillator with the audio output of the other half and vice versa. There are 8 oscillators. The TTMC square waves sound really good. Envelope follower, preamp, CV amp, rare TTMC modules, like inverter, phase shifter. Two different touch pad modules for manual playing or for transposing the sequence. The TTMC and TipTop sequencers also play well together. We also will include two TTMC mults that weren’t in the photographs.

In the photos all of the rack ears have been removed, but we will include them or reattach them if you prefer. We’re hoping a whale comes along and snaps this system up whole. It’s ready to go. Powered, racked, and ready to Bongo. If not, we might itemize it and sell it off individually, or keep it. Who knows."

Trogotronic Vacuum Tube eurorack System

"Ferrari. Fire truck. Lipstick. Hell. This is a Trogotronic vacuum tube synthesizer system with rare solid red panels and some rare accompanying modules. The 333—the strangest of envelope followers—for example. We’re also throwing in a passive Low-gain Short Bus module, because it’s red, and because it’s useful for padding down loud signals, or for routing. The m11 module is great for control, with a satisfying button. The m676 is great for annihilating signals, or producing them. Three VCAs—because you can never have too many.

We’re also including a small rack with the perfect angle, and a 4ms power supply. The tube modules all have inputs on the front and back for their own power supplies, which means they don’t draw hardly anything from your case’s power. In fact, the m676 doesn’t connect to the flying bus at all! So this shows up ready to plug in and play.

We recently did a few big trades, and bought something substantial, so we’re letting this system go, as well as our huge Buchla clone system. So ist das. Agis quod agis. Yada yada yada.

Jump now!"

X-Plorations Vol 2 - Sequential Prophet X - Patches 1 to 32 (of 128)

video upload by GEOSynths

"Out Soon

So, it's been almost 4 Years since I worked on the Prophet X and then released X-Plorations Vol 1. While it does have some amazing Factory Samples from 8DIO, which i have used, I was a little disappointed in the Synth Samples, so I sampled 14 of my Synths, just the Oscillators wide open over many Octaves and EVERY note.

Of course, the Prophet X has onboard VA Oscillators and when combined with the Samples, you can make the Prophet X sound amazing. As mentioned, for Volume 1 I sampled 14 of my Synths to make 43 Sample Sets, these are the Synths I used.

Moog Grandmother
Behringer VC-340
Dreadbox Erebus
Moog Sirin
Roland SE-02
Moog One
Behringer CAT
Novation BS2
Moog Matriarch
Moog Subsequent 37
Dreadbox Typhon
Analogue Solutions Leipzig-S
Cheetah MS6
Sequential OB6

With Vol 2, I have extended this with 17 more Sample Sets from my Synth Collection, again EVERY note over multiple octaves. This time, some have FM Modulations and Wavetable changes captured, using the following:

Majella Audio Implexus
Analogue Solutions Fusebox
Behringer 2600
Arturia Polybrute
Novation Summit (Wavetables)
Nord Wave 2 (Linear FM)

Analogue Solutions 4 Voice Maximus Polysynth - Maximus 4V

video upload by Analogue Solutions

Follow up to the 8 voice Maximus.

"We are thrilled to share some initial sound samples from the Maximus 4V polyphonic synthesizer. We've included a variety of sound types, but given the vast sonic possibilities and features of the Maximus, demos will need to be spread across several sessions to fully grasp the scope of what this synthesizer can achieve."

"*WHAT IS MAXIMUS?*

Tom Carpenter is excited to introduce Maximus, an extraordinary new mega-polysynth inspired by the dawn of analogue synths. It is more than a powerful analogue ‘workstation’ - it is also a piece of art, architecture, and exquisite studio furniture.

Although we label this as a polysynth, it is so much more. We can't think of a single label to assign to this synth since it transcends traditional categories.

When you think of a polysynth, you might imagine flat synths with one set of controls that manage all voices equally. By giving Maximus independent controls for every voice, you have the freedom to create unique styles of poly sounds that are impossible on traditional polysynths, whether they are hardware or software. You can dial up ‘traditional’ poly sounds (pads, etc.) or create something unimaginably different.

Because you can never dial up each voice completely identically, standard poly pads will sound superbly vintage.

All the voice and modulation circuits are, of course, 100% analogue. We purposely avoided digital components, aside from the digital needed for MIDI and the mini-sequencers.

This synth is purely for those who want it just as it was in the 1970s - but new, with parts still in production, for those who want a synth that could have been built in the 70s.

There are no gimmicks - this is pure synthesiser - a huge sound enclosed in a solid metal case wrapped in solid hardwood. No expense has been spared to bring this incredible machine to life.

Synthesisers like this only come around once in a decade, or possibly, a generation."

The QMMG Returns! | Make Noise

video upload by MAKEN0ISE

"Make Noise is proud to announce the 2024 Black & Gold Edition QMMG!

The QMMG Returns!

We built as many QMMGs as we could source parts for, and we are shipping QMMGs to dealers worldwide— they will be available for purchase on September 9, 2024.

QMMGs will also be available to purchase at Make Noise HQ (414 Haywood Rd., Asheville, NC 28806) on Saturday, September 7th, 2024 from 10am - 2 pm (limit 1 per customer).

To help celebrate the limited release of the 2024 Black and Gold QMMG we have created a special QMMG t-shirt, featuring iconography created by Tony Rolando for the module’s original 2008 release: https://www.makenoisemusic.com/produc...

The Quad Multi-Mode Gate is a huge riff on the original Buchla 292 Quad Lo-Pass Gate, including a Mix Out and all of the original feature set. The QMMG offers additionally: HiPass mode, Voltage Controlled Feedback, Direct Coupling and Normalizations so that multiple channels may easily be used together to create Bandpass Gates, steeper HP, BP or LP Filters, or even something like a traditional Synthesizer Voice Architecture.

The QMMG contains no fewer than 8 Vactrols!

Like the 2018 reissue, the mode switching is done via analog pots instead of rotary switches, and the bottom board contains reverse power protection circuitry.

2024 Black & Gold Edition
Vintage voiced, all analog
Four independent vactrol-based channels
Multiple modes per channel: VCA, Low-Pass Gate, Low-Pass Filter, or High-Pass Filter
SUM out for easy mixing
Flexible normalizations for easy creation of dual-peak filters, East Coast voices and more
Powerful feedback circuit acts differently depending on mode
Pairs well with MATHS and DPO

Module width: 24hp
Max depth: 32mm
Power:
65mA @ +12V
65mA @ -12V
Price: $699
