Ambient Live Patch | 4 Tiptop Audio & Buchla Modules

video upload by A Last Picture From Voyager

"Time to play live with the 4 first modules I bought from the Tiptop Audio & Buchla eurorack series. Before getting these modules, I owned a hybrid setup made from analog and digital modules with lots of functionality (sometimes hidden), and I wanted to go back to the roots of sound synthesis. The Buchla philosophy was the one closest to my ambient experimental mood, so I went for it.

The 245t sequences voltages, the 258t generates the tones, the 266t adds unpredictability, and the 292t shapes it all into something organic. No computer, no external sequencer — just four modules and patch cables, breathing together.

I'll explain in detail all the reasons behind this choice on Patreon soon. For now, let's listen to a little piece of modular synthesis ambient music.

Modules used:

• ‪@tiptop-audio‬ & Buchla 245t (Sequential Voltage Source)
• Tiptop Audio & Buchla 258t (Dual Oscillator)
• Tiptop Audio & Buchla 266t (Source of Uncertainty)
• Tiptop Audio & Buchla 292t (Quad Lopass Gate)

Evolving Ambient Loops | Elektron Digitone + Analog Four + El Capistan

video upload by Hideo Nakasako

"An evolving ambient session created with the Elektron Digitone, Analog Four, and Strymon El Capistan.

I used the Analog Four for the bass and a simple rhythm, while layering the Digitone’s sounds on top. By setting different probability values for the notes, random phrases naturally intertwine and create a constantly evolving loop.

The subtle changes keep the music moving, while still maintaining a calm and spacious atmosphere.

A simple hardware setup, but endless possibilities. ✨

"I recently performed live with the Blocks panel for the first time and I wanted to give you all an inside view of how I set everything up. Instead of a tutorial, this is more of a demonstration of how Blocks could be used in a live situation combined with some other gear. Enjoy!"

YAMAHA TQ5 × Ableton Telequencer | Reawakening the Legendary "Lately Bass" in an Improvised Session

The iconic FM bass sound of the 1980s, Lately Bass, still holds its own today with its punchy, glossy character. In this session, I brought it back to life using a YAMAHA TQ5 and a custom Ableton Live MIDI device called Telequencer.

Telequencer is a step sequencer that allows intuitive programming of pitch, duration, and MIDI CC. It also features shuffle rhythm, snake-style pattern progression (inspired by Make Noise Rene), pattern rotation, flexible step counts, and customizable reset points—tools that invite both structured and improvised approaches.

With this setup, I'm exploring a style of performance that simply wasn't possible in the 1980s:
dynamic, fluid sequencing combined with the raw sonic character of FM hardware.
This isn’t about nostalgia—it's about discovering what Lately Bass can do in a present-day creative environment."

"Plumbutter audio output sent to Microcosm Hologram effect pedal.
Unfortunately, the basses quickly become overdriven at the pedal output, so I have to turn them down."
